WD 1TB MyBook Essential $175 & WD 320GB MyPassport $129 (some TGG stores & now OW online)

281

TheGoodGuys are advertising these qualtiy WD external storage for below market prices. Take it to OfficeWorks and they will beat it by another 5%. Excellent value!

Confirmed by Sooty, that not all TGG stores are using the same catelogues. It goes to show how this business model of independent franchises is a pain to consumers. Stick to OW to save the hassle.

As a result, OW is listing both drives at the exact price listed as TGG, below are the direct links:

  • Good find Noslee.. they're getting cheaper and cheaper now..

I also noticed that several retailers already increased their prices due to weakening AUD dollars (even OfficeWorks, from $177 last week and now is $186), so good to see that someone actually bring the price is down.

  • Is this the one with Esata or Just USB?

I couldn't see in the picture

    • The "Essential" range is only USB2.

  • Good deal but already mentioned here http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/7432

    • still, the 1TB one isn't in that post.

  • Ah thanks Elcheapo. I thought it would be

  • Good find. I was wanting to buy this one as opposed to the free agent at harris technology.

  • Be wary that some OfficeWorks stores have already adjusted their in-store checkout price to match $129 on the 320gb, it could mean no 5% extra discount if they are sharing the same database, my mate tried it in North Sydney store during lunch today.

  • Long time fan of the site, never registered until now. Felt compelled to mention that while consumerism is great, so too is respecting a businesses attempt to offer great deals. To the poster of this offer, give the Good Guys a chance rather than seeing it as an opporunity to pull another 5% off by price matching with OfficeWorks. Before you ask, no, I don't work for either of these businesses. Just a regular consumer looking our for great (but fair) bargains. Well spotted though..!

    • We all want to support local businesses, however based on my personal experience with TGG. Letting an offer of over $6000+ purchase, what I got was a bagful of anger with their offer nowhere near JB-HiFi and Bing Lee. Wasting the effort of driving there, talking to sales, and ending up buying somewhere. Made me feel that I am a "not-so-smart" shopper to be there.

At least with OfficeWorks, I know exactly what I am getting immediately / next day close to free delivery and guaranteed cheapest price + generally great service.

      • Agree. Go and tell TGG to give the deal like OW - $122.55 and pay by CC without any surcharge fee ! If they don't offer any better, vote with your wallet.

      • agreed

  • It was almost $300/RRP at TG in Nanawading, according to my brother when he went to check today and didn't end up buying one.

    • well.. it shouldn't be $300 according to their OCT Sale catalogue on page 11 it is $175 (Just go through the catalogue to print the pg out to show the shop + They should be able to match the same from other TGG shops as well) - Vaild till 9/Nov unless Sold out.

  • Valid point there randallh. I've been planning on buying one of these and reckon now is a good time ;-)

  • Thanks for the post but I didn't get 5% price guarantee as OW already adjust the price @ $175

  • Yeah its an insane price, these were $199 at OW a week or two ago and they have been dropped so much.

Oh i work at OW and we get price match updates pretty much everyday.

  • First time poster here!

Just got myself a nice 1TB My Book from the good guys, for $170. Which was below cost price, according to the sales person.

I generally get more off when I buy expensive things, but this drive was already VERY reduced. I'm really happy with the drive.
