Merry Christmas!
Same as the PS4 release but with now in 4k and 60 fps.

It's the PS5 version.
The PS4 version does NOT have a PS5 upgrade path.
From the digital foundry video, IIRC the PS4 version will run at 4k (on PS4 Pro), UI is 1080p and 30 fps.
Good points
Definitive physical disc editions of games are the way to go when Sony PlayStation collection/sub offerings underwhelm with only base vanilla or PS4 versions of games
Pre-order to secure a Steelbook case (while stocks last).
(Released in 2019…)
Seems to be a holistic version of the game with DLC/features baked in?
One-time digital codes are -
… Then there are the Royal Deluxe Ultimate versions
An unboxing video shows no DLC codes when opened for XBSX, PS5 and NS. So it's all in the game.
Hmm, should I buy this a third time? I have steel books of the PS4 versions.
I could play on Game Pass, but it won't might not stay there long enough for me to finish it.
Will this come with the steel book?
I got Elden Ring a few weeks ago and they showed the launch edition bonuses on the Amazon store page, but the standard edition was what they sent
You get 60fps, native 4K, and all the DLC. At $49 I'd say it's worth it. Steelbook version will eventually be replaced by the normal case version too.
Imagine buying the same game 3 times.
Don't imagine, just do it!
I also have it on Game Pass, but don't want to put 100 hours into it and then have the rug pulled from under me :)
That's what devs hope for tbh. I wish this goes away eventually. Its already going in the right direction with some games having cross platform saves but you still need to buy them multiple times :/
Ordered one, only own P5 steelbook on PS4, so needed P5 Royal. Hoping for a steelbook 🤞
Same price at JB.
https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/playstation-5-persona-5-r…
Yep. Was on sale for the last week with the switch persona 5 royal
Should i have played the previous games for this make more sense?
Pretty sure they are all in the same world but each game has a new cast of characters so probably not.
Nah, I've only played Persona 5 and there's no linking story from previous games.
Persona 5 Cashgrab Edition with addition of story content that couldn't be DLC because it would not work.
There's a couple of background cameos, but nothing important. P5 was my first Persona game and I didn't feel like I missed out on anything, even after playing 4 & 3 afterwards
It's in my pile of ps4 shame :/ if only i had waited for ps5 version
Not buying it again except I would buy on switch if it had cross save
Shame you can't upgrade the PS4 version. 30FPS on PS5 is yucky!
Agreed, I have P5 on PS4 but it's hard to go back to 30 fps nowadays when a lot of my games are at 4k120 on the PC. Luckily P5R on PC can be played at 4k120.
Atlus is pretty greedy with this one.. P5 then P5 royal as a new game instead of providing an upgrade option as a DLC. Then P5R on PS5 without an upgrade option once again.. can learn something from CDPR.
Wow people are using CDPR as a shining example again, against greed of all things.
More that they recently released a free upgrade for a 6 year a old game.
Atlus have sold the same game 3 times for full price with no upgrade option in that same period
Yes, Cyberpunk sucked but the support for Witcher 3 that adds all shiny features for PS5 was free. They deserve credit for that.
They were too lazy to separate the DLC which The Witcher 3 does. You can still play the PS5 version without the DLC in that, whereas in P5R it's all just bundled in and they wouldn't let PS4 owners upgrade and get the DLC for free.
Has anyone traded games at jbhifi before? Is it worth it?
In a few words: DON’T DO IT, they are way worst than EB or CeX.
And people do complain a lot about EB
Trade at CeX for cash then use the cash at a store with bargain prices.
OK boomer
First Persona game was 9 years before the first Yakuza, so yeah I guess it was a different OLDER generation.
Couldn't care less what you first say the games boring as shit.
Anyone know when the sale ends?
possibly 1 Jan since it is pricematching JB end of year sale.
Anyone have any idea if this version is the Asia version rather than EU release? (amazon shows China as origin but playstore au shows no other language supported)
I'd kinda prefer it for PC for when I get my Steam Deck eventually, but the steel book and cheaper than PC price convinced me
got my copy today, it is indeed the launch edition with steelbook
Same here, just picked it up off the doorstep :)
Same here!
Same
Is this gonna be a free upgrade for ps4 owners?
