32" LED HD, wall mounted TV?

I am after a new high def, LED tv for the bedroom which I intend to wall-mount - hopefully with some kind of pull-out and swivel feature.

Can anyone make some recommendations for both tv and wall mounting? TV size would be around the 32 inch mark.

Thanks.

what's your price range and what are you looking for in a tv? Features etc.

Here's wall mount guide and I've been hearing good things about selby stuff but haven't used it myself personally.

    • The Selby link looks great - thanks!

TV is mainly for watching movies - mainly via a media player (I have an unused Sony SNP100).
Cost for TV up to around $500-600. Don't need internet connection etc Will use the media player, but won't good picture quality. May need to add a (cheap) audio system if tv speakers are cr*p.

Sorry I meant to put this link in regarding wall mounting

Hisense is a brand worth checking out because they're not to expensive, looks great and built well and I like the fact that they bundle in a really good 3 year in house replacement warranty. check out their website and see if their specs are up your alley and then check them out in-store and if there's a sale, even better!

I find the really cheap generic brands are hopeless for sound. Unlike my 32 inch panasonic TV, the sound is fine to fill a average size room. If you're considering buying external speakers, I wouldn't skimp on sound and maybe wait a while so you can afford some good speakers. If you really must get some you could always go and get some decent logitech speakers to tide you over. Though you'll be looking at about $300 for a surround setup. http://www.logitechshop.com.au/logitech-speaker-system-z906.… and once you're done with it you can retire it to the desktop/laptop/console… my house haha!

Just so you know, I lean towards panasonic as a preference for tv image quality and if you discard features like 3d and smart TV software, the entry level TVs start to look a lot more tempting at their lower prices.

At 32 inches and the price you're considering I wouldn't bother with soniq or online shops like kogan because you can't bloody test out their software and Kogan in particular with their samsung sourced screens (not all screens are built the same). But if you have someone who has one, great check them out and see if they're worth viewing but I do hand it to Kogan for their competitive pricing. I have friends who have bought soniq and its done the job but speakers are crap and I value my Image quality far too much but for a second tv and on the cheap it is what it is.

Having played around with the recent Hisense models, they seem to tick the right boxes though I'm not sure what they're speakers are like… The entry level panasonic TV's may not reach the dizzying levels of blackness on the top end models but are worth considering (I have one for my room). Even the cheap sony's come with some decent connectivity and if you've got a ps3 it plays nicely with it too. I know that doesn't really help and gives you more questions then answers but I haven't checked the prices lately and JBHIFI is only really worth buying a tv from when they have sales because they generally want to scrunge you for warranty before they even bother taking the price down unless you have a receipt that you can throw back into their face.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks again for the advice and links :-)
