I used to like this sort of candle but no more after found out the smoke may potentially cause cancer! I don't want to promote any video clips but it can be found easily on YouTube.
Yeah smoke is a carcinogen, so is anything burned. You can burn your toast and it is carcinogenic. The risk it adds is tiny, but it adds up over years and many sources, so still best to minimize it. A scented candle in a well ventilated area is safe, just don't go nuts with them like anything else.
