Hi,

We were looking for a sun lounger and were going to wait for the 25% off sale, but this price was around 20% off and we wanted it for summer.
It seemed like a decent price but I managed to pay with gift cards (8% off through some employee rewards gateway). I think its only 4% off for shopback gift cards. Plus if you spend a touch more and get it over $1000, you get a $50 gift voucher if you're a Freedom member (free to join).
Plus 2.5% Cashback through cashrewards
All up it was enough to pull the trigger for me although deliver isn't until January… I was hoping to pick it up this week but there's no stock anywhere.
There's heaps of other furniture on sale as well. I just selected this one as an example since you can't post "Up to 50% off" sales here.
Anyways… not the best deal on Earth, but I thought it was a decent price. Hope it helps someone (and I hope I haven't been ripped off and get negs for this deal!! )

I dunno, still seems like a lot for a Sun Lounger. I guess the target market is not this skinflint.

It seemed like a decent price

    Ahem!

You can get one for a fraction of the price - https://www.google.com/shopping/product/1?q=sun+lounger&prds…

In fact, kmart has even cheaper ones at $35. Spending $1k for one doesn't seem like a bright idea.

      Agree

    • That temple & webster one you linked is about half the size. 18kg v's 38kg, ~10cm v's 2cm cushions. Removable covers v's not. not really a fair comparison and I reckon the freedom one is probably reasonable value compared to more similar alternatives. Plenty of double sun loungers like this are > $2K.

cheap outdoor furniture generally doesn't last too well in my experience so probably best to invest in something half decent and avoid the disposal hassles every few years.

Yeah nah. You are talking about a 1000$ sun lounger.

Let me get that calculation right… you have 1K, you buy 1K lounger you leave it to your grandchildren as heirloom - they think you were a really weird grandparent with fetish for expensive sun loungers. You have 1K, you buy $35 lounger, put other $950 in family trust and into something that actually is investment (i.e. has a potential to increase the value), every 2 years you throw away old $35 lounger and buy another one from your investment proceeds. When you pass away (or even before) your grandchildren thank you for the trust benefits and call you an astute sun lounger connoisseur.

Or… you take your 1K buy 28 of $35 sun loungers and start renting them daily at Bondi or Manly for $7 per hour or $15 per day…

Sure… it must be a superior feeling sinking 1K into premium sun lounger (which again is not an investment!)

I didn't go that deep in the sums sorry. All I did Google double sun lounger and noticed those that looked comparable in size and construction were pretty damn expensive too.

I also thought that IF i was ever in a position to spend $100K+ on a pool to lounge around I probably wouldn't baulk at another $1k to do it in comfort.

  • To paraphrase Kerry Packer, if anyone in this country thinks that 1K for a sun lounger seems like a decent price they want their heads read…

This smells like an ad. Definitely not a bargain too

Yeah, You're right… probably not the right place to bother posting this. I know it's 3 times the price of others, but I couldn't find any others that had such thick padding and sleek design.
I'll have to remember that most ozbargainers here are design for disposability fans that live in cardboard boxes but have huge numbers in their bank accounts.

Don't stress about the negs or take them personally, especially those considered 'inappropriate use of negative vote'.

      Most ozbargainers avoid the sun.

FWIW, i think it's a nice lounger. Enjoy!

    • Speaking of sleek design, you might like the following Balanciaga trash bag. I couldn't find any others that had such thick padding and luscious shade compared to your normal paper thin trash bag. It's only 3000 times the price of others, but probably a good deal:
