I was literally about to buy one and got distracted by a phone call an hour ago. Perfect!

Have they started using Telstra 5g yet, unsure if i should wait to get a jbhifi telstra offer or get this

    • +3

Dot point 2 on the table :)

      • +1

Thanks, was hoping it would be 5g after the trial aswell

        • The trial keeps getting extended.

Need to be a new customer right?

  • Currently on Boost.. if I port out and port back in, any issues with Cashback?

    • +4

Cashback is on the purchase, not on the porting

    • My partner is a Boost customer on an old prepaid setup. I spoke with chat and you don't need to port out, they just update your number to the new prepaid. I would confirm it with chat before doing it for your records incase they come back and say no, but it worked fine for us.

Edit: they kept the same number.

I recently found In some areas, vodafone is better than boost, haven't tried the remote area yet, BTW, I am in Canberra.

    • Which areas in Canberra? Mine goes to H+ from 5g near crossing of Fedral Highway and Horse Park Dr

    • +1

In the city sure - sometimes you will have a better signal with any carrier depending on the tower location or what buildings are in the way. Out in remote areas often I find Telstra is the only option.

    • +11

      I am in Canberra.

      My condolences.

      • +1

Lol nothing wrong with CBR bud.

        • +3

          Name checks out

        • +1

Their city is built on politics: it’s all roundabouts!

    • Can relate here too. Telstra seems to have network problems in Taylor. Optus works fine for some reason

    • +1

can confirm, had a complete blackout on boost in a restaurant, whilst Vodafone was fine.

      • I've had the same experience in Adelaide. My kogan/voda prepaid used to get coverage indoors at work and now its a blackspot. Finding outdoor is constant 5G but indoor if definitely worse for me with boost.

        • Where abouts MikeHunt?

          • @Pootie Tang: Aged care setting Croydon. Could be things interfering with the signal from the building itself as I've not had issues anywhere else. But again a colleague with Optus gets 2 bars. My boost sim in his phone…no bars. They being said I've just driven from Adelaide to Sydney then down the midnorth coast of NSW and have had coverage pretty much the whole way so it's been pretty solid overall.

        • I used to work with a Michael Hunt

    • +1

Went camping at Glenworth valley recently, and only my boost sim had full reception. My friends' Vodafone and optus were all showing sos.

  • These are great, on my second one.
Mine expires end of Jan so can probably start keeping an eye out. The 140 is generally enough with wifi at home and work, still got 93GB/140GB.

    • +1

the 300 one comes with more overseas calling minutes … which is useful for me!

      • Yeah that's handy, good if it ticks the countries you're after.
Suppose most youngsters use messenger/whatsapp now (but need a data connection).

  • Damn $5 more than last week

    • +2

That's like, almost half a Zinger box! D:

  • my 12m plan is gonna expire in Jan 2023, can i buy this SIM to recharge?

    • +1

No, but you can port out and port in.

    • Unofficially you don't have to port out, just have to find someone nice on the boost chat.. many people have done it. Just don't leave it till the last minute.

      • Can confirm last year I bought another 12m pre-paid, spoke to chat and had them activate the new one and transfer my number over to it. Had to swap the SIMs over but that was it

        • I did this as well.

      • Would this mess with the cashback tracking?

        • How would it? It's just for the purchase I would have thought, whether activated or not (but see the OP)

Seems like the only deals on these are cashback now, I got my previous two price beat at officeworks when they were cheaper to Start with.

          • @G-rig: The special terms for the offer are "must be activated within 30 days of ordering", so not just for the purchase

            • @inick: That's for the Sim, nothing to do with cashback on not.

      • I can confirm this worked for us

  • Gave up on Boost. They couldn’t get us connected across from Coles Mobile after three weeks. They never rang us back to give us an update; we had to keep chasing them. Eventually we ran out of time to migrate across so we just renewed our Coles Mobile for another 12 months; they were offering us a 20% discount. We cancelled the Boost SIM and got our money back. It was a debacle. I understand things can go wrong but three weeks, particularly where we had to, continually, chase them, is just ludicrous. The help desk people were, particularly, useless.

    • +5

      maybe Coles was the roadblock?

      • That's rough. I was with Optus. I ported over in seconds. Sorry to hear it.

      • I have no idea because Boost wouldn’t tell us what was going on. I can understand there might be issues but I expect to be kept informed and provided a solution. We kept getting told Boost was escalating this and they would contact us in 24 to 48 hours. They, never, rang us back. We had to keep ringing them. I think they should be able to sort this out within three weeks. I can deal with issues it is being kept in the dark and fobbed off I object to.

      • Yeah I'd pick Boost/Telstra any day over Coles/Optus lol. Boost being 5g is a bonus too.

        • Well, we tried to.

          • @try2bhelpful: Sounds a bit unlucky mate. Good experience staying with these boost 365 day sims so far, haven't tried a lot of the others to be honest. Hopefully you'll get it sorted and not worry about it again for a year.

Ps. was easier getting the deals before these cashback ones, where the sims were on special then pricebeat at officeworks.

            • @G-rig: Who knows, if we are feeling masochistic we might have a shot next year with Boost :).

It was more the poor response of the help desk that got me. It is when things go wrong that you, really, get the sense of a company. I was a PM, for a while, and when things go wrong you give people a recovery plan and make sure they are kept across what is happening. You don’t pfaff them around until it is too late to recover.

I’m sure most transfers are smooth sailing, it is just they weren’t great when we hit issues.

              • @try2bhelpful: yeah no good and enough to steer you away i suppose. Have personally found the online chat pretty quick and responsive.

    • A store rep negged you. Fixed it

      • I’m sure a lot of people have no issues. Just giving people the heads up it might not be smooth sailing. I was just disappointed they weren’t responsive.

        • Which happens with probably every company. The difference is companies that quickly find solutions vs those that leave customers in the dirt

          • @belongsinforums: Absolutely. Auspost delivered the SIM to the wrong house but we get a notification message when parcels are delivered, so we knew it had gone astray quickly. We spoke to this fantastic Aussie bloke who said they’d stuffed it and it was delivered to us within two hours. My lasting impression of Auspost is not so much they pooched the delivery but that they took it seriously and recovered quickly.

  • Hi guys currently on telstra post paid but out of contract could I port straight to this deal or would it be wiser to port to another carrier first?

    • +1

You don’t have to port out first, but when you activate the boost sim online, it will get you to speak to someone on the live chat to do it.

  • Im already with boost, which i assue is same as being with Telstra..

I dont have access to UniDays, Is the cheapest port out plan something like below with $5 SIM (Dodo with Optus) ?

  • Damn I ported over to this plan only a few days ago. The 5G is bonkers by the way… Peaked at ~900mbps whilst inside of a KFC

    • I ported over last week. Im in Newcastle, and the 5g is spectacular compared to Optus.

  • +4

Gave up on cashrewards. They are not tracking. Such a disappointment

    • Same, last Boost cash back offer didn’t track for me either. In a long drawn out dispute currently.

Basically purchase without relying on getting the cash back for certain.

      • One of my sims tracked but the second didn't (as a separate transaction/click from cash rewards). Just logged a manual claim..see how we go

  • What's up with these deals with no price in title?

    • I reported but must be a holiday. Usually incorrect titles are resolved immediately

      • What did the report come back with? My initial revision before the edits had the price in title

  • Has the boost website for OZBed?
“Sorry, we are unable process your order. Please try again later.”

  • Does unlimited standard number international calls includes both mobile and landline of that international country?

  • I have three boost numbers/connections with them if I change one of my number from boost to lebara and then bring back my number from lebara to boost will I be considered as a new customer?

    • +1

It did for me. Ported out to Optus for a day and still had another active boost service.

Ported that number back in and all was good.

  • +1

Thanks! Grabbed a 260GB for me and a 140GB for the wife.

    Cannot. Wait. To. Ditch. Vodafone.

Oh, and both times Cashback tracked instantly. :)

  • I need eSIM , so no deal for me
    👇

Boost haven't even sent my simcards from the last deal… Wtf is going on.

    • mine were sent with startrack, however they did just show up and I had no shipping email

  • -1

how did this get so many upvotes without even having the price in the title?

    • The initial revision I did had the price in title before the mods changed it

      • +1

The mods took the title out? what the?

  • eBay has got Boost mobile at $244.95 and goes down to $220.45 while Telstra sim card is at $271 drops down to $243.9 using the promo code. Not the best price but acceptable?
