Still waiting (in vain?) for the PC port.

    • The first one is on steam and epic now. Release in march iirc

      • FMD! Have you also recalled that the price is $94.95? How could Sony and Naughty Dog justify charging PC gamers that much for an ancient relic?

        • +2

Thats the remake that recently came out. Theyve updated the graphics quite a bit, though whether its worth the price is a whole new can of beans.

  • Is this with free upgrade to PS5 version?

    • +4

This one does not have PS5 version. it is PS4 pro enhanced.

Great game and PQ is great already

      • Oh ok cheers

        • +9

It did get a 60fps patch for PS5.

          • +2

@9674784: Yes an FPS unlock but still PS4 game and there's no PS5 version.

Which means missing DualSense features like adaptive triggers and haptics as well as 3D audio, activity cards etc.

            • +1

@Hybroid: The activity cards aren't really that much of feature though. But yeah, 3d studio and haptics are very nice. Still a totally playable game though!

    • +4

it has a patch that makes the game at 60 fps.

    • +1

PS4 version, but runs at 4k60 on ps5

      • +3

        Its only 1440p at 60fps.

  • +5

Bought this for $40 or so some months ago.
Still sitting on the shelf in its shrink wrap.
    Money well wasted.

    • +17

      You're missing out - it's a great game.

      • +12

Probably the best game I've played.

        • +8

I think it was the most immersed i've been in a game in a long time, that's for sure. Though I feel games like God of War had more going for it, especially Ragnarok.

          • @jaygee: I don't have a ps5 😂

            • +1

@Mr Haj: Pretty sure both games are on the PS4

              • @jaygee: Oh wow I didn't realise Ragnarok was. Thank you ❤

    • Should be played and finished by now and seal it again

    • yeah you did waste it since its been under $40 many times the past year

    • We should start a club.

  • +14

    Ridiculous.

$12 for one of the most incredible games ever made?

This experience makes other games feel like toys in comparison.

    • It's often at this price. I know so many people love this game, but the reality is way too many people already have it and/or played it and at second hand market, this game is only worth $5 (EB games gave me only $5).

      • +4

Just because someone offered said price for an item does not make the item worth the offered price. Also, I love TLOU2 and feel it gets unnecessary hate, usually from people who haven't played it.

        • The game isn't worth much now. It's not a reflection of the quality of the game itself. It's more too many people have played it.

Whether we like it or not, EB is not selling this game like hot cakes (once again, too many people already played it and/or owned (or own) it).

It's more about being an OZBer and don't let the game cloud your judgement. Sony first party exclusives are often popular and a lot of people have them (hence the price does drop quite a lot over time).

  • Wondering if they'll do a full remaster like Part 1. Popularity would be at its maximum with the TV series coming out in Jan. Graphics are already pretty good so not sure theyll do a remake for Part 2

    • +5

Why it need a remaster? its PQ and handling is very close to part 1 remaster. Naughty Dog is doing Part 3 now

      • Like i said, to cash in on the shows marketing. They could easily do a DLC or something like that instead though. I dont think it needs one but Sony do love their remastered definitive ultimate super special deluxe editions!

        • +1

Yeah but… What could they really do apart from add ps5 features? It's already very, very high quality.

          • @Sxio: It runs at 1440p at 60fps with the PS5 update. So theres room for improvement for Sony, to make some more money out of it

            • @Whisper Quiet: Technically, yes that's true. But I thought it was really impressive production personally. If TLOU 1 wasn't super worth remaking, TLOU 2 definitely is on the other side of the line for that argument for me.

    • Of course they will. I’m tipping it will coincide when Factions is released.

    • They won't do a full remaster (because the so called "remaster/remake" for part 1 basically uses Part 2's graphics engine). They will release a PS5 version which takes advantage of fast loading with some minor graphics improvement when Factions is released.

The value of this game has dropped a lot. I recently sold my copy to EB games, EB offered me $5.

      • +1

they offered you that because the game is on sale (just like a lot more games), the usual pre-owned price is around $48, and the trade-in value around $14 when is not on sale.

        • It's on sale so often, EB simply won't give people $14 right now. Why would an OZBer spend $14 or more on this game, especially for a second hand copy?

The game has been around for a long time now. Naughty Dog even released a new version of part 1. I think it will be good for Naughty Dog to move on quickly. If they want to show off PS5 properly with Part 3, then they should start working on it. We still have to wait for Factions to be released.

        • Ive been seeing it at EB for anywhere between $9-$15 for months. Always have so many in stock but cant get rid of them. Never seen it above $20 probably for the whole of 2022 in their stores. $48 would be the new price maybe in 2021.

    • +3

Why on earth would they remaster a game that came out 18 months ago!?

      • It was released on June 2020.

        • +7

Oh no, 2 years. Quick remaster it!

          • @ldt: It will be about 3 years in 2023 if they decide to release a PS5 version.

Pretty similar timeframe compared to what Nintendo did with Mario Kart 8 to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

            • +1

@kazuyamishima: That was because the new console (switch) came out. There is already a PlayStation 5 version. It wouldn’t look any different!

              • +1

@ldt: There is NOT a PS5 version, is a PS4 patch that increases from 30 fps to 60 fps, the visuals are the same as the PS4 Pro Version, they will milk the franchise when the tv series releases and they can add dualsense support, 3D audio, etc.

                • @kazuyamishima: That is a PS5 version. You can buy it on a disc for the PS5 and they can patch in any extra features. Remaster is pointless.

                  • -1

@ldt: Many XBox (2001) discs work on XBox Series X, so I guess those games are Series X games too because they have got patches.

                    • +1

@FabMan: No, but that’s not what I said.

                      • @ldt: You said "That is a PS5 version" and it isn't, it is a PS4 version that works on the PS5 due to the PS5 supporting backwards compatibility, like the XBox (2001), XBox 360, and XBox One discs work on the XBox Series consoles.

                        • @FabMan: If it comes on a disc labelled PS5 it’s a PS5 version. What a pointless conversation this is!

                          • @ldt: I 100% agree and The Last of Us Part 2 only has PS4 written on it. You keep saying it is a PS5 version, but Part 2 is only a PS4 release, no PS5 written on the box.

The original thread starter was asking if it would be remade into a PS5 version and what people have been saying on this thread multiple times, yet you keep saying it is a PS5 version. Have you been thinking of Part 1 that has a PS5 version this whole time?

                          • +1

@ldt: But it doesn't come on a disc labelled PS5

                  • +1

@ldt: There is no such PS5 disc for Part 2.

                • -1

@kazuyamishima: That will milk it with Factions. Naughty Dog better not release a PS5 version (with basically quality of life improvements) for the TV series. Then, release the version of Factions later. That's really milking customers too many times.

We've seen part 1 remake version. Right now, Naughty Dog doesn't have a new graphics engine that's proper next gen available. It will milk the current PS4 based graphics engine with 4K assets and patched PS5 SDK.

      • +1

Maybe not a full remaster but a PS5 upgrade is inevitable to add in missing DualSense features like adaptive triggers and haptics as well as 3D audio, activity cards etc.

  • -1

Probably will go up in price when the TV show comes out.

    • +7

      let me guess

      gay/black people existing = political

      • +9

It's funny cos I didn't think it was very woke at all. Sure there are gay characters etc, but it didn't feel too egregious to me. And I'm a pretty straight male who grew up in the 80s where homophobia was super mainstream.

        • +5

"woke" is an alt-right buzzword used by Elon Musk fans and old Gamergate relics used to describe the existence of anything that doesn't fit within the protagonist archetypes which have dominated all media for decades lol. You're right, nothing about the sexuality or general identity of the characters defines their behaviour or anything - it's just who they are.

You won't have much luck convincing these types of people though - they just want to hate, and slinging these buzzwords around is the next acceptable way they've found to vent their hatred

          • +9

@Bohlin: It's funny. I imagine them sitting around, all agreeing with each other that if you 'go woke, you go broke' whilst the world moves on without them.

          • +5

@Bohlin: Seems like a few of those prickly 'gamergate' goblin relics are now hanging out on OzB. Virgins.

    • +8

Go woke go broke? Do you have ANY idea how much money the game made? At all?

      Talking out your arse mate.

    • The Last of Us Part 2 sold more copies than Ghost of Tsushima.

What you need to realise is that just because some people don't like it, it doesn't mean they won't play it. The graphics / animations in the Last of Us Part 2 is top notch. The attention to details is still great. The story isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Sony simply flooded the market with a load of the Last of Us Part 2.

      • +3

Ghost of Tsushima has no soul. Far cry with samurai sword or Assassin Creed Japan.

    • +5

Hey look, another opportunity to play TLOU2 bingo from “critics” who never played the game!

Next time please also enlighten us on restaurants you’ve never been to, or shows or movies you’ve never watched, based on the “reviews” of other like-minded critics who have no idea what they’re talking about either. And on that note, no, watching an angry YouTuber slam the game or a gameplay walkthrough - having pre-loaded your viewing with negative sentiment and expectation - is not the same as playing it yourself. It’s a video game FFS, play it and try to appreciate what the developers are going for in this very special medium, and that stories don’t always play out as you might want or expect.

      Here we go:

      • Bringing up Ghost of Tsushima unnecessarily as the “rightful” best game of the year, as if the two are remotely comparable

      • Using price as an indicator of quality or popularity, conveniently forgetting that PS exclusive titles regularly go for cheap. Also, in this case, pre-emptively excusing the fact that one’s favourite anti-TLOU2 flagship title Ghost of Tsushima went on sale itself ($28 in April), but “bounced back” due to its stunning superiority. Guess what, sale prices mean a price drop, and prices tend to go up again after a sale.

      • Demonstrating thorough knowledge of insider information on sales performance, contrary to published figures. They just “know”. They can feel it. They also know that Neil Druckmann is behind a conspiracy of some sort to artificially prop up the game, so I’m surprised that hasn’t been mentioned here.

      • Making accusations of being forced a “wokeness” ideology but not realising they’re ramming their own tiresome life views onto others. It really wasn’t woke until you made it so. Cue also the casual mention of Star Wars in there - a fictional universe where not an eyelid is batted when it comes to the millions of alien races, but severely triggers some in the fan base whenever a Black or Asian human or, gasp, a WOMAN, features as a character

  • Part I $94 on Epic lol

  • This is the opposite of woke. Without giving away any spoilers they did a great job of refreshing the old cast and bringing in a climate-aware protagonist who represents love and equality and culturally safe story telling.

  • i finished the first one many times but still haven't played the second one had it for a long time now.

    • +2

Think it's time for you to play it.

      • been holding off because i don't know if i will like it or not people have told me if you liked the first one you won't like the second one.

        • I liked both very much. Sequels can never top originals but it's still an amazing playable narrative that gets far grittier if not a little silly

        • Troy Baker (who did the motion capture for Joel) said it best, you either love it or hate it (part 2). There is generally no in between.

One thing though: any criticism on this game easily upsets a lot of people.

        • +1

people have told me if you liked the first one you won't like the second one

          Those people are morons.

Don't let other people tell you how to appreciate your games and stories. Play the game and see for yourself. It'll be a hell of a ride, I guarantee it.

  • +1

Last Of Us part 1 is also on special for $69 at Big W and Amazon. So far the lowest its been. Seems amazon is sold out for now, of part 2.

  • +1

Best game ever, played both parts on PS4. I have no courage to buy and play part 1 on PS5 lol

Bought mine for 40, sold for 20 :D Can get it at 12$ for grand kids

    • Bought the game multiple times and sold multiple times. First time, I sold for $40 to EB (Level 5 bonus + birthday bonus). Most recent one was $5 to EB.

Cheapest purchase of this game for me is $2 out of pocket ($12 at JB, but I used one of those $10 vouchers). Knowing there will be a PS5 version of this game, I just want bargain price for the PS4 version.

      • Question is, will you play it again on PS5? I don't want to relive that heart ache lol

        • Good point. Not going to bother playing it again on PS5.

  • why is this not on xbox… sony bast..ds

    • +1

Because Micro$oft hasn't bought $ony yet. The game will most likely have a PC version eventually. Then, maybe people can develop some mods for the game.

  • Do I have to play part 1 (remastered) first before the part 2?

    • You don't have to. Part 1 is part of PlayStation Plus Collection for PS5 so if you own a PS5, even if you just sign up for free PS Plus basic tier trial, you can collect it and play it.

You do need to know the end event of part 1 to get some context in part 2. One possibility is just read the plot for part 1 (warning: spoiler alert):

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_of_Us#Plot

If the plot is too longer for you, just read the last paragraph of the plot.

Should you elect to play Part 2 without playing Part 1 first, there is a strong likelihood you won't get so attached to a key event which happens earlier in Part 2 (that will probably be a good thing). Some fans of Part 1 get really upset about that event.
