I’ve not owned any of these but the reviews for deuter packs are generally pretty positive

Quality is good IMO (German brand, although I don't know where they are manufactured). I own 3 different models. Alot of attention to detail (eg) zips that clip together (to stop rattling), back padding that can be removed to use as a seat (which doubles as SOS instructions) & 'loops' on the zips so you can easily pull them with your fingers, etc. Not sure if that's maintained on their latest models as my bags are ~2-5 years old.
I just replaced my last one after 9.5 years using it when cycle commuting 5 days per week. You can guess what brand I bought based on that
Which model please if you don't mind? I'm in the market for a cycling backpack for a friend, tall thin middle-aged bloke who wants a commuting backpack for his birthday! Budget very flexible.

Edit: seems like they don't have much in the way of large hiking-style backpacks, only travel focussed ones. Still a good deal tho.

that's what i expect to pay for a 50L, even $122 seems like a lot to me but if it'll last many years (BIFL kinda thing) that's at least a reasonable price
