Are you with RACV? They do discounted tickets.

Not sure how the price compares to other deals though.

  • Movieworld is a scam.

Went a month ago, outside of school holidays and spent the entire day lining up. Shortest wait for a ride was 30 minutes, longest was 90 minutes. Some rides we didn’t even bother with as the expected wait was 2 hours. You can however skip the line for a fee. $40 per person to get a fast pass on the log ride..

That is not a scam. This is a normal theme park experience. It is not the operator's fault if it is a popular destination.

If you have been to Universal Studios or other theme parks globally, you face the same issue. In fact, the price for Fast Pass would fluctuate during the day for some theme parks according to demand. I have ever been to theme parks where the Fast Pass cost more than the ticket themselve if you decide the purchase it mid day.

For Disneyland, people can even book rides at a certain time months in advance. There is a certain strategy to every theme park (like what rides to start first etc), you just gotta do some research before going. Another tip is that if the wait time is too long, use the singles queue. If you spend 90% of your time queuing, that means you are not doing it optimally.

      • I also went to Movieworld last month. You are right, pretty standard theme park experience and not really worth it to me if you are going for the rides. Wet and Wild was terrible though. The maintenance for several of the slides overlapped on the days I was there so most of the bigger slides were shut down, meaning the couple that were running had massive queues. Not worth queueing up for over an hour on a hot day for a 20 second ride.

Well it is…. They could limit the number of tickets sold for that day.

Why would they if the safe maximum capacity is not reached yet? Even if the operator sold just 200 tickets for the day, they cant force people to spread out instead of 200 customers queuing up for the first ride they see. That is mainly the problem, there will be high concentration of people at certain spots during the day. So you just need to identify the rotation opportunities or use other strategies to minimise waiting times. There will always be rides that have a permanent long wait time, those are unavoidable.

Theme parks these days are pretty high tech, there are apps that helps you see wait times for all rides and allow you to plan your day. Being able to maximise your day at a theme park is not rocket science, all you need is some patience and logic.

This is coming from someone who has been to many theme parks globally over the years.

          • @KaTst3R:

            Why would they

Your point was, the 30-60+ min queuing at EACH ride isn't their fault. It is. It is, as they have oversold the tickets to ride capacity causing excessive queuing. It's very easy to reduce queuing on rides, lower the number of people in the park for that day.

Have you tried using the search? This has been asked many times already.

    3-day pass ($145) : https://store.qantas.com/au/p/village-roadshow-3-day-pass/AU…

    7-day pass ($161): https://store.qantas.com/au/p/village-roadshow-village-super…

Just use the slider to change to cash rather than points and add to cart. You will get 20% discount.

Add multiple ones and if buying for >$500, you will get extra 15000 qantas points as well.
