Not disputing your experience, but strangely my experience was not as positive, I too got them in the previous deal and I am getting lots of cuts with these blades. I usually get 5-10 shaves from a blade, but with these, the blades seem very blunt just after 2 shaves. I was suspecting I got fake ones.
That's interesting. I've been using the blade since 1st Dec and I shave every morning, so I've had 17 uses out of it so far and it's still sharp and doesn't look like it has lost any effectiveness. The only challenge I have with this blade is that because it's so big (5 blades) it's sometimes hard to shave the moustache area right under the nose but apart from that, I am loving these. I am finding that I only need 1 stroke to shave while with the Gillette I often had to go back and shave the same area a 2nd time to get it smooth. Glad I bought 6 packets of these when they were $6.95. I'm now set for years!
I only recently realised that these have the extra 'flip' blade on top for the trickier spots, might help for under the nose
@Steveoh9: Bloody legend. I had no idea the top blue strip folds back. It’s probably designed specifically for the under the nose area. Many thanks for pointing this out.
BTW interesting my 2 comments above got a neg vote. Can’t see how I said something worthy of a neg vote!
Schick Hydro 5 Base Kit is also half priced at Woolies, includes handle and 2 blades.

I'm looking to transition to DE blades. Do you need all the other stuff like specific shave cream and the brush? Thinking of getting the basic kit if I do otherwise will try your 2 links to get it going as I have shaving gel already.
You can definitely use your shaving gel as usual instead of brush and lathered cream stuff. I'm considering going back to can shaving cream instead of brush as a matter of fact (out of laziness). But DE for life. Look up some YouTube videos on technique and expect a few cuts until you get the hang of it. You'll not regret the change though :) also the whirlpool forums have a good thread on it.
You could probably get everything you need from beard and blade instead of doubling up on postage.
I'd like to suggest an alternative to the creams and gels..
I've been using good quality hair conditioner to shave with for decades. In particular ethique's solid bar "guardian" conditioner is quite good and lasts for absolutely ages (and is, ironically, terrible on my head hair!!) (Other varieties of their bars are probably just as good) (These are valued at around $20, but I picked up my current one for $7 on discount rack at woolies a little while ago).
I was using tresemme moistrising conditioner (the one with blue on the label) before I discovered the ethique bars.
Aldi do a combo shampoo and conditioner bar pack for $9.99 from time to time and the conditioner bar in that is also very good to shave with (I actually rehydrated it by soaking it in water and mashed it with a fork across a few days- got about a litre out of it!!)
These are great for trimming the hedges just in time for the festive season.
I got these when they were $6.95 a pack the other week. As someone who has used Gillette Mach3 Sensitive blades for a number of years, I can say that for me personally these Schick are much smoother and easier to shave with. I am yet to cut myself with this blade (I used to often cut myself with the Gillette) and I am no longer getting ingrown hairs on my chin. My shave is also smoother than the Gillette.
