I Asked ChatGPT to Write The Ultimate OzBargain Post

Here's what it gave. And yes, I had to give it some prompting.

Title:
Amazing Clearance Sale at Target – 50% off and Free $50 Gift Card with Purchase Over $200!

Body:
I wanted to share an amazing deal I just stumbled upon at Target – they're currently having a clearance sale, with discounts up to 50% off on all their products. I was able to snag a new TV for $300 – that's $200 off the regular price!

But before I get to the good stuff, I wanted to ask for some advice. My friend was in a traffic accident last week and doesn't have insurance – does anyone have any recommendations for cheap car insurance options?

Also, I've been having some issues with my neighbors lately. They keep leaving their trash cans in the middle of the driveway, and I've asked them multiple times to move them. I'm at my wit's end, and I'm considering hiring some bikies to take care of the problem. What do you guys think? Is this a good idea or am I just being ridiculous?

Anyway, back to the sale – Target is also offering a free $50 gift card when you spend over $200. I was able to take advantage of this offer and got a $50 gift card on top of my discounted purchase.

I highly recommend checking out this sale if you're in the market for electronics. The discounts are amazing and the free gift card is too good to pass up. And don't worry, even jv will be able to afford it! (Just kidding, jv – we still love you!)

Hurry, though – I have a feeling these deals won't last long!

Happy shopping,
bargain_hunter23

I'm considering hiring some bikies to take care of the problem

Given will be a Target for them and a Clearance of a problem for you. 50% off and Gift card should apply.

If not call the Police and report them for misleading ad(versity)

    It fails to mention that:

    • The gift card will be hacked and worthless by time you go to use it

    • You should try to sell the $50 gift card on ozbargain classifieds with a 4% discount and prepare to be scammed out of your profits

    • It will pre-fill a new forum thread how gift cards are a sham because I lost all of my money

I asked it to add this, but it notes it won't write advice that could harm people. Turns out it had higher standards than some other ozbargain posts :(

    Doesn’t sound “chat-botish” enough.

Sounds more like someone making a shit post that they want us to think it was a chatbot.

    • Full transparency, I told it ozbargain was a deal site, it made the post about target. I then asked it to write that again to include information about an uninsured traffic accident, a dispute with neighbours, and to make a joke about a user named jv, who is popular, but people like to make jokes about them. I also told it to propose bikies as a solution.

So I gave it the prompts, and it constructed the narrative.

It came up with the bins. jv being able to afford it. Asking if they're being ridiculous. Asking for cheap car insurance. It also came up with the whole story about target, the cheap TV's, the gift card, etc

Hardly AI if you fed that much information to it.

  • Associated post, reported for title/description amazing

Could be fun to get a bot to do a forum post and reply to comments without saying it's a bot

I would have loved to do this. Except I thought that would go against ozbargain rules.

      • Maybe get @scotty on board for 1st April next year, might be too obvious then though

  • Can we just group anything about this tool into one thread please

Most people don't really care about what fun and zany questions you can ask this thing
