  • Highly likely a repeat freebie for tomorrow.

    • what makes u say?

Epic leaves clues for the next game in the thumbnails. Next game is likely "Horizon Chase Turbo" as per the Reddit thread because the trophies in the background match that game.

Had a lot of fun with BTD6, I was surprised at how enjoyable it is

I got bored. Balloons. Seemed like a lazy way of not doing animation or enemy design and somehow just made it hard to give a crap

        I got bored. Balloons.

If you got bored of the balloons, this is clearly not the right game for you then :)

I understand your viewpoint. I play Bloons TD6 a fair bit because both my young kids love the game. The enemies in this tower defence game are very very repetitive.

However, I don't think the reason for that is because the developers were 'lazy'. Rather, they wanted to develop a tower defence game that didn't include killing or violence against something living or life like, eg. creatures, aliens, robots or mechs, etc. They wanted to develop a tower defence game that younger kids could play safely. So they came up with the concept of popping balloons or, bloons per the game.

But for adults, I do agree it gets endlessly repetitive. I've played up to level 190 and above level 70 or 80 so, all you are faced with is wave after wave of the various blimp style bloons. Everything looks the same.

My other criticism of the game (on mobile devices - I've only played on iPads) would be at higher levels it is very hard to see what is going on and react to it because the screen is full of units attacking. All you can see is the units and their animations of the attacks - it's really hard to pickup when a fast moving wave of DDTs comes flying through because they are hidden behind all the action and animation. It's just too busy. Also on mobile devices, the game performance bogs down with pauses as there is literally hundreds (maybe even thousands) of animations occurring on screen at once. Also had consistent crashes on standard iPad models above level ~170 as I believe the game runs out of RAM. On Apple silicon (M1/M2) iPad Pros with 8GB or more of RAM that doesn't happen.

      • it originally started as a flash game like 15 years ago so it's less of a 'lazy workaround' and more of a 'cool flash game idea that just kept getting expanded upon'

Hey guys, I bought a kindle many years ago because I accumulated a lot of free books, now I have lots of free epic games, what sort of gaming laptop or computer is good for these games?

    • +3

NVIDIA GeForce Now subscription with a good gaming controller or Keyboard/Mouse, fast internet connection and full HD monitor on any average computer connected via LAN (wired connectivity).

Supported games from Epic (and other sellers) at this link.

I like Geforce now, but they need to have some of their own games.

an Xbox game pass subscription gets you game streaming that includes the actual games.

        • You can't play your Epic or Steam games on Xbox Game Pass (the Xbox version might already exist there though). Not all Xbox games work on Xbox Games Pass for PC so you can't use keyboard and mouse (for people who prefer that over a controller).

          • @bigbadboogieman: yeah, my bad. I was responding in general terms..
I was surprised when I looked into Geforce now.. that I needed to buy my own games.

            • @elcheapoinoz: How does it work, an X box or ps5 cost less than 1000, but need a laptop may be more than 1.5k to play X box or ps5 equivalent game? Does Xbox and ps5 use graphics card?

              • +2

@htc: You don't need an Xbox. you stream from a library of cloud games on your client.

client can be Android or Windows.. so they don't need to be powerfull devices as the GPU is on the cloud server itself.

      • Mainly because I got the Dell QC monitor posted special by dealbot, the large screen motivated me to try to play some games.

For laptops, the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro series of laptops are great. I recommend at least a 3070 or 3070Ti for the GPU.
The Lenovo Legion 7i in this deal was a terrific price too.

    • I'm finding they're great on Steamdeck since most are indie or casual and quite fun in that format. I'm not really a sit down gamer any more after working an office job.

This is good if you want to automate purchasing the free games

Is it safe when it comes to collecting my personal login details? Does it share any of my private details with hackers?

Can't be too careful these days.

      • I'm no expert but it looks like it is meant to run in a Docker environment - probably most ppl will set it up on a Raspberry Pi. So it runs locally in your network (might raise more red flags) but the source code is available to see what is going on and should there be data leaks I feel it would have been exposed on github by others.

        Still be careful though!

    • This looks great - save me missing games!
I do also wonder about privacy though?

    • +1

This looks promising af. Is there like a guide or learning material for us non-techies for learning how to setup a docker environment and configure something like this to run?

Looks useful. I also recommend signing into Epic games on your phone so that you can just open it every Friday morning (or daily, in this case) and claim the games through the phone web browser. Makes it easy to claim even when on holiday or away from your PC for longer periods of time.

I played it daily for well over a year…. this comment is so true.

  • How many days do these daily Epic freebies run for before they go back to the usual weekly cycle?

  • i got it free on Mobile last time.
sometimes ill run it on BlueStacks desktop
but its limited to my PC performance

  • Remember playing this years ago on mobile. Was a littl etoo addictive

  • I got stuck on the loading screen "Step 1 of 9…" , does anyone know what to do?

    • I had the same issue. Launch the game through the EA launcher rather then directly

      • thank you, i will give it a try, went searching on google whole day yesterday but end up uninstalled the game, kids were disappointed
