Wall Mounting a TV

What is the current rate on installing a 65" TV wall mount on a streel frame house?

What is the price usually consists with, wall mount and hiding the cables ?

Top Google search says Mr Antanna or Jim's Antanna, but they want to come and gives an quote. Thats sounds like a trap to me without knowing the standard price.

$0 if you do it yourself.

    • I have done this before but not on a steel frame lol

If you have done it before on a wood stud frame, than a steel frame is no different. Just use steel drill bits and the rest should be exactly the same.

Few ways you could do this yourself:

        1. Mount a timber board like plywood onto the wall and screwed into the steel studs, across 3-4 studs. Then mount the TV onto the timber board.

        2. Mount the TV bracket onto wall and screwed into steel studs with metal screws.

        3. Use toggle bolts into the steel studs.

All you need is metal screws and a metal drill bit.

        • What are these metal screws you speak of? Never heard of them?

    Or this guy…

$150 with a wallmount and cables concealed, (Brisbane) timber studs though through a business that had insurance etc. That was for my 77" OLED

Maybe go for a company that can spell “antenna” correctly

  • Got mine done via airtasker for $120. Professional guy. Had all the tools bits and bolts, cleaned up after as well.

Jim's is a rip-off. They quoted $600ish for a Samsung Frame 75 inch tv install. That was like 1/3rd the cost of what I paid for the TV.

    • Did that price include the mount as well or did you supply the mount and was only the labour cost $120?

      • Supplied the mount. The frame tv comes with its own proprietary mount

        • Yeah that's right and it even comes with the toggle bolts. I installed two at home myself but this one is a standard 85" (quite heavy compared to a frame) Pretty much all quotes I received were around the 250 mark.

Thanks, I will see if i can find a air tasker in Adelaide.

If you wall mount it, make sure you get it the right height! (Make sure you don't mount it too high!)

    • Plus one. It need to be the right height for your usual viewing position, normally so you don’t have to look up to watch it.

Don’t make the mistake of putting it where it’s comfortable to view from standing up.
