      *GDDR6
It's memory for GPU's, not CPUs

      • +4

Ah, my bad. I googled it at the time, but got more confused. Cheers for letting me know

  • +20

Probably better off with a discounted RX 6900 XT, this card is significantly cut down from it's halo counterpart.

    • +2

yeah I agree with that, unfortunately 6900 XT isn't on sale and the cheapest 6900 XT currently is $1200

      • +10

wasnt it $999 the other day? hopefully we see more deals for it

    • +6

good catch, I thought this was for the XTX. God damn Xs, just call it a 6800 or something.

      • +2

Dont worry, the 7800 will be released later

        • +4

          doesnt fix the issue

        • +1

          7800 7800XT 7800XTX 7850 7850XTX

          • @[Deactivated]: Too many variants of the same card hey lol. They should just beef the cards up and have a simple line up…. like 7700, 7800, 7900. Three cards and take your pick.
Are they much different from eachother???

      • +1

Gamers Nexus did a bar chart of the X branding, the XFX RX 7900 XTX was the winner with 5.

        • Winner? They're all losers given their msrp

          • @Jimmy77: Nah it is clearly the winner in the X games

            • @Diji: But who would care at that price? When they can already get a superb gaming experience for less than half the cost

              • +1

@Jimmy77: Fans of xXx starring Vin Diesel?

  • +24

There's almost no reason to buy the 7900 XT now. It's purpose is to make the XTX look like a good deal.

In about 2 months expect a significant price cut to its appropriate level to make it then look relatively cheap, but it just should have been priced sensibly to start with.

GPU manufacturers will keep gouging the early adopters for as long as they are prepared to be gouged.

    • +1

After march this card aiming price is $1000

      • +6

Mate im still HODLing for the $800… why you lie!? 😥

Tomorrow merge, 3090 price cut half

        • +2

almost as if everyones predictions come from the rear

          • @Pugkin: I don't think anyone was expecting such an epic dick move from nvidia by deliberately cutting supplies.

            • @incipient: Greedy bastards.
And PLEEEEEASE DON'T bring back the HODL crap again!! Drove me insane with every gpu post…. made me freaking mental! Lol

            • @incipient: Or 7000/40 series extortionate pricing

    • Yeh nah… what will happen is the 7800XT and 7800XTX will fill that <$1000 gap… AMD are just as profit driven as NVIDIA

    • +1

Im thinking of getting this despite it being "bad value"
      my reason being:
I have an mini ITX build and I am in need of an upgrade.
My monitor is AW3821DW and my GPU is Vega 56
The dimension for this card is perfect for my case
I don't need the XTX cos im balancing study and gaming hence i don't need the best of stats, i rather spend the difference on a new mouse
The question is will this card still be here when they decide to drop the price?

  • I wouldn't get XT version either, perfomance not so great, XTX is where the gold at.

  • +4

For me it comes out to be $1649 at checkout.

    • damn it came up for me like this too, I'll cancel this then

    • +1

      Yeah I see this too

      Item(s):
      AUD $1,414.00
      Delivery:
      AUD $0.00
      Est. Duty & GST:
      AUD $235.00

      • +2

It honestly shouldn't be more than $1,499 if it's based on US$899, could be a different MSRP for non-reference.

  • +2

"Over 143 people have this item in their cart.", mustve stolen mums credit card ey

    • Having in cart dont need CC, just drooling over ;) Like women doing window shopping.

  • Wouldn't you have to pay import tax over 1k as well? That's separate from gst

  • meh still cheaper than a 4000 series from nvidia :D

    • +1

But unfortunately with more driver issues atm & no DLSS or RTX. Not saying those are greatly important, but AMD didn't quite get the price point down for this one.

The XTX should have been US$899 & this US$749.

      • +3

1: I am yet to see any comments regarding driver issues for RDNA3.
2: AMD offers FSR as DLSS' counterpart.
3: AMD has offered RT support since RX6000 series.

        Stop stoking a fanboy war

        • I have an RX 570, all Ryzen CPU's and recommend AMD for value the majority of the time.

7900 XTX sometimes has worse performance than 6900 XT in VR gaming in benchmarks

Another thread about the issues with these two cards

Hardware Unboxed isn't happy with the XT either

NVIDIA's 4000 pricing strategy has warped the concept of value right now. Just because the 4000 is a rip-off, doesn't make the current AMD cards good value by comparison, especially the 7900XT.

If anything I'm more an AMD fanboy than NVIDIA, I'm personally hoping that the RX7600XT suprises us, but the two current offerings are not great and legitimately have driver issues.

Not saying the driver issues won't be fixed, but I've been using my RX570 for enough years to say that it was both amazing value and had poor enough driver support that I avoided updating. This didn't change with Vega, it didn't change with RX5000 or RX6000.

AMD's mid-tier offerings will likely be better value.

        • +1

Look at benchmarks of RT performance between the 7900XTX and 4080 and tell us again that the 7900XTX is the better deal for $200 difference.

        • counterpoint: stoking fanboy wars is fun because people start treating American multimillion corporations like their best fried

      • -2

petrol should be 50c a litre back in the 90s that was a thing maybe you should get out of the past where things where cheaper.

    • not really saying much

  • I would pay a bit more for 7900xtx according the benchmark I’ve watched, better fps per $.

    • +3

Just shows how much of an epic price manipulation GPUs are currently. The flagship is meant to offer one of the worst flop/$ options. They've just deliberately priced the XT like garbage to move more XTXs.

  • +1

You'd have to get the XFX RX 7900 XTX.

  • Hmmmm wasn't newegg the one's responsible for screwing with GN and he took it to head honcho at corporate?

  • What's the deal anyway… Weren't xtx supposed to be 999usd rrp?
These are all sold out in aus stores for much more than that.

  • +1

    You guys may wana refund…

This is like a scam. I guess they rushed so nvidia doesnt take all their market share.

Glad I sunk my GPU funds into a Scalextric set.

  • +1

Wait for the XFX RX 7900XTX. Not only does it have the most Xs, but it is the best value in terms of Xs for the dollar.

  • +1

I Bought one of these. I place almost exclusively Warzone 2 and this nearly beats the 4090.
Exceptionally happy with the performance gains over my 3090. average 220fps averaged 130 previously at 3440*1440 competitive settings

  • 7900XTX is instock at mwave for $1789 atm

  • This is Newegg, so expect poor to no warranty support on a >$1500 card. Seems foolish.
