TV and AVR Set Up Advice

Hi, I have a new TV on the way and I am looking for advice on how to set up my various devices.

My AVR is a Marantz NR1607 AVR, which I think has HDMI 1.4 inputs and output. Doesn't support eARC. I have a PS5, Xbox Series X, ShieldTV and Switch all connected to the Marantz, with a single HDMI connection to my current TV, which doesn't support HDMI 2.1. This works fine.

My new TV is an LG OLED77CS, so until I get an AVR with HDMI 2.1 (it could be a while) I assume I should connect the PS5 and Xbox directly to the TV, and pass the sound to the AVR via ARC. I understand there may be sound delays with this method though.

I would appreciate any advice on the best way to set things up. My current plan is:
PS5 and Xbox to TV
Shield and Switch to AVR
AVR <> TV via ARC

Thanks in advance.

You only need HDMI 2.1 if you want to play PS5 at 4K120 which very few games support anyway. Vast majority of 4K60 games will be fine as-is.

Imo Yes, go direct to TV so you can get VRR and DV (and HDR if the marantz doesn't support it….)
Use ARC from TV to receiver (there won't be any delays)
When you get a new receiver use eARC instead or go thru AVR so you can pass thru Atmos etc

PS5, Xbox Series X, ShieldTV and Switch all direct to TV if you are using it for gaming.
AVR will introduce delay which is not good with gaming.
Also ensure the hmdi cables can support hdmi2.1 spec (48 gbps).

AVR's are best for movies/music etc. Decide accordingly.
