Best Accommodation Booking Websites for Europe? France/Italy

Hey everyone,

Any recommendations for hotel books websites? It's mainly the usuals aka booking.com etc

Mainly Paris 4 nights, then 3 weeks in Italy.

Hotels, or Apartments.

Traveling with a mate, generally want our own rooms.

Is Booking.com, the best option and perhaps double-checking prices directly with the hotels to see if it's cheaper direct?

Thank you

  • Accom prices are bloody high at the moment. Hotels are fast making back what was lost with Covid.
We were paying well above what we should have been through Italy and France in October. No shoulder season at this year.
Using Hotels.com will basically get you 10% off using their 11th night free.Price guarantee if you fit through all the hoops.
What ever you use make sure to use https://www.pruvo.com/en-US
This has saved us some good dollars over the years

This is exactly what I do, but I also have Genius so get a % off for most bookings.

I also do search for my preferred place all over the internet too just in case another site has it cheaper still.

Also in many cases for smaller hotels in Italy (ie not chains), sometimes their direct website in Italian is cheaper than in English… not always, but it’s worth checking.

We just had 6 weeks in France/Italy. I’m genius on Booking.com to so it’s my go to, but always check Agoda and google the description to try and get direct too. And we also did AirBnb for just under half of our booking (longer term stays).

Look at Air bnb as well. Also find places on the booking site and contact the hotels directly; they will often match the price and might give you an upgrade for bypassing the booking site.

  • Yeah, booking and airbnb are the 2 best options in France/Italy.
You might find some cheaper prices with other websites, but might be a bit shady

  • Yeah, hotel prices in Europe are crazy at the moment. I have found that although prices have massively increased, points redemption for hotels have remained around the same so if you have any Amex or Qantas points handy, you could use them for hotels. I have also found Qantas points pretty handy for booking OneWorld flights around Europe with BA……..often much cheaper than Ryanair or Easy Jet & when booking through Qantas redemptions you are usually booked in the highest ticket category so benefit from free seating & priority boarding which is a nice perk.

  • Don't really wanna waste points on hotels, and flights within Europe.

We only have 3 flights, and most are $65 each way.

Paris and Amsterdam, particular Amsterdam are freakin ridiculous.

I think most of Italy should be okay, or within reason.

I do find it weird that it's so expensive, when it looks like the global economy is getting worse and people likely will spend less.

    • Our credit for a five night stay in Amsterdam (delayed due to covid) only just covered three nights at the same hotel in October. I'm just glad that they honoured the credit after so long.

Seriously look into rail travel within Europe it is the best way to travel between destinations.

    • The best site. So much great advice.

  • In Paris consider around Les Halles. A lot of the metro train lines go through that area. Also, a fair few of the museums are walkable from there. It isn't the cheapest, but it is, very, convenient.
