    • same. my Amex transaction hasn't tracked as well.

  • Can I get 2x $40 cashback for the same Cashrewards account?

      Please see here.

      • Thanks TA!

  • Woolworths mobile have e-sim even with prepaid accounts. Uses partial Telstra and 5g "trial" on some higher monthly prepaid accounts.

  • Am I the only person having problem to use CyberGhost vpn on boost 4G network?

  • Is there a limit on how many prepaid SIM you can have with boost under your name?
If I keep activating boost promos with new number, would that cause issues down the track?

  • Waiting patiently for 280g or whatever it is deal…

  • Does anyone know how long it would take to ship to Melbourne metro? My plans expires on the 21/12. Wondering if I could get it in time.

those guys never learn. They ask for a driver's licence or passport again, for verify on delivery.

  • Mr tightarse can you confirm if this can be used as simply a recharge for an existing boost customer?

    • As a current Boost customer the answer is no. You will need to port out and then back in. You can either use an esim or purchase a $2 sim from the supermarket. You may also have issues if you are porting from another Telstra network so suggest maybe Vodafone.

    • +1

Not simply as a recharge, but effectively as one, yes. Need to get customer service to do it

    • Not as a recharge
Contact customer support and tell them that you “accidentally” bought this thinking it was a recharge. They’ll port your number to the new sim and you can continue from there.

  • just in time, got pissed off by amaysim.
amaysim make decision on behalf of its customer by assigning a new mobile number even though customer want to keep his number, plus they activated your service even before you have received your simcard. They don't offer resolution and even care to retain customer. terrible service.

  • Thanks OP, this came just in time

  • When will the deal (discount from Boost + cashback) expire? Thinking if needing to hold out for a bit longer. Cheers!

  • My current plan expires in March 2023. What will happen to the SIM card if I don't activate within 30 days.

    • You won't get cashback.

Why do boost mobile only except license or passport for identification?

I'm unable to get a license because of my disability and I have a proof of age card issued by the Australian government that should be good enough and should be accepted

    • -4

After speaking to their support and explaining my situation I was basically told a dodgy work around using somebody else's ID…

So boost mobile won't accept an Australian government issued ID but they will give dodgy advice on how to get past the order system….

      • -1

I believe it’s an Aus government requirement as a result of terrorism.

        https://www.acma.gov.au/acmas-rules-id-checks-prepaid-mobile…

        • -2

I know it's a government requirement so don't you think it's a little bit dodgy that they won't accept a government proof of age card?
Primary identification for any disabled Australian without a drivers license is an Australian issued proof of age card.
Most people in my situation also will not have an Australian passport. I was advised to just get a friend and to use their ID or a family member.

          • +4

@Sammy Boi: DVS (document verification service) doesn’t allow for proof of age card unfortunately.

            • -3

@danny1213: Sorry they are actually literally called proof of identity cards.
Even more ironic now I think about it.
A government issued proof of identity card is primary ID and should be accepted everywhere

            • +1

              @danny1213: Yes, but
              "They may also verify by:

using an existing post-paid or prepaid account
              a real-time or time-delayed financial transaction."

Takes common sense and a little effort.

              • @Igaf: To give some more context to my situation I ended up using a family member's ID to purchased a Sim card and it was sent to my address and I did not have to show any identification to receive the package even though on the boost website it said I would need to show that ID.
Furthermore because I was Porting from post paid Telstra I needed to contact support to have that done so I got support to activate my Sim card and I didn't need to go through any ID process except proving the Telstra account belonged to me and that was just me giving correct information and an SMS security code.
So yeah they definitely used my postpaid account to verify my identity.

                • +1

@Sammy Boi: Good outcome, pays to be persistent. I feel for them but some CS reps are only marginally better than a bot.

Here are the FACTS surrounding ID checks which you might find useful.

danny123 has previously posted the link but his replies suggest he didn't bother reading the content.

Telstra allows proof of age/ID cards: https://www.telstra.com.au/support/account-payment/id-check-…

You are correct that it is Boost causing the problem, nothing to do with regulations. It's unintentional but IF what you say is correct, essentially the business is discriminating against people who don't have licences or passports for the sake of their convenience. This sort of "accidental" discrimination can be found in many places - commonly airports as the media likes to play up.

Armed with the above information you should ask to speak with a senior customer manager with common sense at Boost, or send them an email so you have their response in writing. If that doesn't get a reasonable response I'd flick bill shorten an email and ask him if he can look into it. The NDIS has plenty of very highly paid executive officers he could put onto finding a solution. Yes, I'm serious about the Shorten email.

      • Thank you I really appreciate you taking the time to find this information.

There are only 2 ID options available to order Sim cards from the boost website and that is Australian drivers license and Australian passport so yes even if it's accidental I would say there is a level of discrimination. As soon as I noticed there was only those two options I actually contacted support and explained my situation and that I felt it was discrimination. I got a pretty generic response and then got upset and shut the chat. I knew I could get a drivers license to use but as someone with a disability I think about other people with disabilities and I'm positive a lot of people live by themselves with disabilities without passports and without access to somebody else's drivers license. I appreciate the advice and I would like to follow up on this matter at the start of next year.

        • +1

Shorten has expressed an interest in fixing a lot of these impediments. This should be relatively easy so I hope you do follow up with him. I'm also sure the owner of Boost wouldn't want to turn away good customers, nor be accused of "accidental" discrimination. Vbol

  • If my phone doesn't support band 28 this would be no good right? Currently with Vodafone and coverage has been pretty decent with volte and 5G.

  • +1

can this be used as 12 month recharge for existing customer???

    • No, you’ll need to port out and back in again

      • What is the minimum time period?

      • +1

Not true, just contact Boost via Live Chat and they will move your existing Boost number to the new SIM.

  • +1

If activated and my existing Boost number is moved across to the new account via live chat, will this invalidate cashback?

    • +4

      No, it's fine.

      • Do you know if once you move across will the expiry but added to your existing expiry or start when you move across?

        • +1

I'm told that if I use the kit to recharge, any remaining data will be forfeited, so I suppose the same thing applies to expiry date.

  • Can i return my 250gb boost sim for this deal i purchased Monday? I havent activated.

    • -1

      It isn't refundable afaik.

      • +1

That's incorrect you can. You just need to call customer service and they give you a special returns email provided it hasn't been activated.

      • Can now confirm. I used live chat and they sent me a Refund Request Form.

        • Good to hear! They told me that it isn't refundable when I contacted them a couple of days ago for recharging.

  • +2

Note for all looking for cheaper Boost recharge options , Newsagents & Convenience Stores here in Adelaide are still selling Boost $150 / 80 GB recharge paper print receipts . Fine if you're not a big data user .

  • Has anyone from WA been able to purchase a SIM through CR's website? I've tried with mine and my wife's drivers licence and we both get an error message. Happens either using CR or not, and Boost help have not gotten anywhere.

    • I got an error when trying to purchase via CR app (not WA). This error was received after adding a SIM to cart, entering in drivers licence details, payment details, and then clicking on the button to 'purchase securely'. Might try again later..

      • I had the same error multiple times earlier on. It was definitely the boost website, as the error was the same via the CR app and on chrome browser.

Tried again just now and it went through.

        • Yeah no dramas, tried again and it's gone through now. Must have been something momentary.

    • Anybody from WA bought one successfully?

  • I just joined Vode from Boost 2 days ago, if I re-join Boost, would this be classified as a new customer? Thanks

  • Can anyone tell me the steps on how to port a phone number?

    • When you sign up for boost there should be instructions to follow step by step when you get your sim

  • How is aldimobile vs boost or are they pretty much the same using the same telstra network?

I hate the aldi website for recharging it is terrible and slow and down all the time as i have like numbers on it

    • +1

ALDI and others are using Telstra wholesale, Boost is using Telstra's full network…

      • Thanks. Does that apply to all the plans though?

Does anybody know what happens after the 12 months, do you go on a payg or do you need to sign up to a month to month?

  • Struggling between this (5g) and circles life at $10pm for 30gb. $5 add on for international calls if required.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/733852

    Thoughts?

    • +1

If an Optus MVNO is good enough (and you need the extra data), go with Circles. For me, every time there's congestion (bars of reception but data 'not working') while using an MVNO it reminds me of the true cost of being tight.

  • Does anyone know what the signal quality is like un the Adelaide area as my current Catch sim is really bad lately and pretty much have no signal when travelling to the CBD from the South.

    • That question has so many variables between customers. e.g. the phone you have, any software or firmware issues, network bands supported, antenna strength and position, environment e.g. thick walls blocking signal. I don't think anyone can tell you how it performs across the entire Adelaide region and apply it to your situation. You can check general coverage here: https://boost.com.au/pages/coverage

  • If I purchase on 03/01/2023 and activate before 03/02/2023, provided there is stock, will I eligible for $40 cashback?

  • Does Boost provide tax invoice? I recall someone mentioned that they don't, which is a dealbreaker for me.

  • Is there a way to limit your data use using the app or through boost? I know you can set a data limit on your phone but looking for a non phone option

  • Can I use this as a recharge as I am current on Boost plan which expires in January?

  • how long does it take for cashrewards to "approve" this. From the last deal a couple of weeks ago it says approval date : 16-02-2023

    3 months?

    thanks

    @tightarse

  • +3

I am a bit confused after reading comments. Can you still get the 130GB deal if you’re an existing Boost customer? I’m not worried about the bonus 10GB but would love to buy this deal. Probably not to the extent that I port in and out though…
    Thanks for any help!

  • Hey TA, do you when the promo ends?

  • +1

When does the '30 days to activate' start? When you receive or when you purchase?

    • What happens when you're having issues with porting and goes past 30 days?

      • Better to port week before hand if you don't wanna face trouble.

  • I tried ordering more than one but getting the 'something went wrong error' in the 2nd transaction. Anyone else?

    • Yes, needed to use incognito mode and my partner’s details.

    • yes im having this issue daily for past few days despite browser or device, im putting it down to having a boost account previously that I haven't used for ages and have asked, repeatedly, for telstra and boost to cancel. can't seem to get past this issue, have you had any luck?

  • Thanks TA, just in time when my boost plan expires next month. CR tracked instantly.

  • +2

Just making sure that people haven't had problems using this to recharge for another year. My plan ends next week so wanting to confirm that all you have to do is contact help and they will just do it for you?

    • +2

That is what I did last year over their chat support. No problems.

      • Thanks

      • +1

Sorry for a late-ish reply. What specifically did you say to the chat? Something like:
Hi, I bought a new SIM but want to just recharge. Is that possible?
Or do you need to specify you bought it by mistake or something?

        • +3

Pretty much, I just told the chat I bought a recharge card with a SIM and I need to change my number over to that SIM. Or something to that effect.

    • my dads plan ends next week too wondering about this same thing, also does the recharge apply from the date you recharge?

i.e. he has 70gb left but expiry is 24/12, if we recharge say 17/12, does the 12m kick in from then, effectively losing a week?

      • +4

Did it couple of days ago via chat, no issues. They do say it is a one time gesture. in their copy and paste spiel.

You will have to insert the new SIM card, then they will transfer the number across to the new SIM.

I waited 2-3 days before expiry of the current plan before requesting on chat.

        • Thanks

        • People are saying they have not received sim yet? My recharge plan ends 22nd what if it my sim deal from here comes after then?
They told me i could either keep my existing sim and they can transfer this over to it or use new sim transfer my number over to it.

I’m reading and told from here best to use new sim deal and have my number transferred over, as it will not affect my cashback where as keeping my old sim and transferring this as a recharge I will lose my cashback.
But what worries me is this supposed to be all done while my current plan is active?
What if sim does not come before 22nd dec what happens then, I obviously don’t want to lose my number and want to use this plan as offer by cr.
But I have no control when or how long it will take them to send it and it’s not exactly the fastest time of year to get mail.
When they do send is it tracked are you notified of when your sim deal is on way.

          • @bwatt72: As far as I have been told, the Boost numbers stay with you, for many months,
even after your recharge date goes past.

I have never actually tested this, because I get too nervous,
but a good friend told me, his numbers stay active,
ie. can receive incoming, but no outbound texts/calls.

            • +1

@whyisave: Ok cool but why the delay in sending these out I do hope it’s received and set up by the 2nd jan as I be away and really need my phone during that time.
Something like this should be here next week let’s see.
My current recharge plan expires on the Thursday.

              • @bwatt72: I'm in the same situation, ie. my recharge is around NYE.
I did it this way, several years ago, just so that it's "easy"
to keep track of the monthly usage and yearly recharge,
and now I kind of regret it, because it's the quietest / busiest time of the year !

I ordered my SIM this weekend, and hope it arrives soon enough.
I have more time than you, but at the same time,
I don't want delays in the SIM activation/number transfers,
since it's around NYE and people make plans, etc. etc.

          • @bwatt72: @bwatt72
I'm in Sydney and I ordered my SIM about 5+ days ago.
The SIM arrived to me today, in a regular AusPost letter, with tracking.
