Home Theatre Setup Help Please

Hi

I'm planning to run the following setup

Yamaha NS555 front and back
Yamaha NSC444 centre
SVS PB13-ULTRA Subwoofer
PolkbV80 ceiling speakers in the ceiling for ATMOS
Denon AVC-X3700H 9.2ch AV Receiver

Dedicated home theatre room 5mx5m carpeted

What do you guys think?
Am i using too much sub for the speakers?

Used the Yamaha ns333 in my previous setup and loved them

NS555 may be overkill for rears, why not use NS333? NS777 better for fronts. Get two subs.

  • I think there’s too much speakers for all of them in that set up. As above, it’s quite the overkill for the rears especially.

If you haven’t gotten them already (I think you may have them though??) then have a look at other options which may be cheaper. It’s a very loud setup for a small area.

I mean it’s a decent set up but I think your room is too small for that setup

  • I'd probably go for bookshelves at the back, given they're only used part time i'd feel floorstanders would be overkill.
The Denon is an absolute beast.

Honestly have no issues with it, will sound great.
Good enough to have the misso blow a gasket upon hearing it.
(Which lets be honest is the point.)

    • I have already bought all the speakers because ns555 are becoming hard to get
      Thanks for the feedback all

  • You've got a nice set up there!

I've gone from active speakers to the following myself:

    • ONKYO TX NR7100 AV Receiver
    • SVS SB1000 PRO Sealed Subwoofer
    • Polk Audio Reserve R200

It's a small living room, so any more than a 2.1 set-up may be overkill.

Might get a different set of bookshelf's later to play with

I'd suggest making it 3.1, the centre carries most of the load when you're watching movies and TV shows.

      • Yeah that's on the list. Got any suggestions for a centre speaker? Nothing too exxy/fancy

The limiting factor may be your entertainment unit dimensions - I have limited space so went for a Polk CS10. One of the Polk models will likely match the timbre and appearance of your R200s. There's a used one on eBay for $80.
