Using 3 Monitors with MacBook Air M1

I'm trying to use 3 monitors with Macbook Air M1. The only solution I'm able to find is using a docking station which supports displaylink.

I'm thinking to buy Dell D6000 docking station and I wanted to ask if somebody has already used this and was succuessful in extending the screens? Or any other suggestion will be higly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

My Macbook Pro M1 works with 3 monitors on the Dell D6000. I had to use a Windows PC to upgrade the firmware on the dock and have the DisplayLink Manager from Synaptics installed and running.

    • Thanks for the answer. Performance is good on all the monitors? All monitors get atleast 60Hz refresh rate?

Yep 60hz fine. I'm not running 4K though.

        • Thanks for the help :)

          This solves my issue.

  • Beware. The Macbook Air might not support 3 monitors. It's not a pro.

    • Same for iPad Pro, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro 13in.
I think it's only the M1 Pro/Max versions that officially support multiple desktops/monitors.

      • Even if I try to use DisplayLink?

          it works with displaylink.
i’ve used 3 screens as well as ultra wides with just the displaylink software and dock

  • I have a Macbook M1 Pro that when combined with the Alogic Dock(DUCH2), Runs 2 monitors as well as the Macbook Monitor.
1 Monitor is the 34IN LG Ultra Wide, and the other is an Acer 31.5" curved.

Works well, except when the unit goes to sleep. I have to unplug the Dock to have the monitors recognised again.
I have switches also on both Monitors, so I can switch over to my Dual Boot Hackintosh.

  • The Macbook Air M1 does not support 3 monitors as it is not a pro.
Well, do let us know if you get it to work.

  • Running Macbook Air M1 with 3 monitors via Dell D6000 dock. In addition to that, I'm running the 3 monitors with 3 different resolutions (4k 60hz - Landscape, 2k 60hz -Landscape, and 1080p Portrait mode) as well via the DisplayLink software.

So far it works fine with 3 monitors, and everything connected to the dock. This was a deal breaker for me initially where i thought Macbook Air M1 didn't support the 3 monitors.

    • How's the screen resolution for you? I found it to be bit blurry when using dell monitor S2722DGM. The screen isn't sharp enough with Mac as compared to Windows laptop.

      • don't find any issues with that where i'm running the monitor's native resolution. Of course you can't compare to the Mac's screen where it has a higher dpi.

        • I just compared when it was connected to the Windows laptop, the screen was more sharp. Whereas with the Macbook Air I found it to be bit blurry. Not sure where the issue is.

          • @StraightGuy: Make sure you have Display Link Manager installed and configured to the extended monitors
