Does an eBay Gift Card Become Locked Once Entered at Checkout?

Pretty much as per title.

If I apply gift card at check out to my order, but don't end up using it, does it become locked to my account?

    There's been an increase in gift card issues on the forum lately …
    
    In answer to your original Q.. generally not locked to the account by entering and not checking out … although it's eBay so who knows
    There's also a chance of losing the gift cards on failed checkouts.
    Giftcards as a result of refunds are generally locked to that account

I don't think it does. They don't appear in the next checkout if you cancel before completing the order
Unlike if you used gift cards and the order is refunded, the gift cards appear at checkout and are locked to the account.
