About this item

  • Awarded Gold at 2020 International Wine and Spirit Competition, Johnnie Walker Blue Label is famed for its remarkable depth of character.

  • This velvety smooth and vibrant Scotch is crafted using rare hand-selected whiskies from across the four corners of Scotland including some from long-closed 'ghost' distilleries. It is a statement addition to any drinks collection.

  • This is the perfect gift to give to the one who appreciates great taste, or whose steps inspire yours.

  • Only 1 in 10,000 casks from the unparalleled Johnnie Walker reserves is considered to have the depth of character needed to craft Johnnie Walker Blue Label.

  • Rolling waves of rich spice give way to a deep surge of vanilla sweetness and honey. Caramel and hazelnuts course through dark chocolate before ending a luxuriously long, smoky finish.

~$184 at Dan's. Could also get 20% off at Coles Online - bringing it down to $184

  • When is the CNY edition coming out?

If its your thing then I guess it's your thing but honestly I found was very underwhelming considering the high price tag… Much better off with other high age statement whiskies

    • +1

      Well, that didn't take long…

    • Never tried this but if its like green. Then give me black label instead.

    • Yea never been a fan of Blue label. I think its targeted for people who dont know much about whiskey but wants to try something fancy.
Give me black or double black any day.

      • I tried green and i was like. Nope. Black or double black pls.

      ^ what choco says.

      Green 15 all the way.

    • The gold is quite good I have to say, if you can get it at a discount.

      • +1

Go to the 18yo (ex platinum) if you're thinking about going gold. Much better mouthfeel and complexity.

        • +1

Whiskey isn't my forte so appreciate the tip!

    • Have to agree any half decent Japanese whisky is better than this.

  • Perfect for a dry mix?

Why ruin a perfectly good dry?

For 200 bucks, I'd rather gamble on an independent bottling of a distillery that I like.

I remember the marketing used to say this had Brora (my old username but forgot the pw) and Port Ellen in it which was hilarious because this tastes nothing like the two. Diageo hasn't released any Brora or Port Ellen for a few years now, prob why they stopped name-dropping rare malts in this boring blend.

    • Yeah, but they still have stock of Brora and PE. And they could add a tiny amount in there and they wouldn't be lying.

      • Of course they still have old stock, but not enough for annual releases and to include in the marketing for Johnnie Blue. I alluded to the "adding a tiny amount" when I said this tastes nothing like Brora or PE.

The Last Brora I bought was in 2017, and I don't think they've released any since. So get ready for a Brora 42 @ 43% ABV for $15k in a couple years

        • Yeah. That's the way it goes. I mean, until Brora reopens…

  • They must count on the fact that people buy and expose on the shelf to never be opened so to never realise gold is better than this

I will proudly display this if someone ever gives me one.

    • I disagree that gold is better than blue.

      • Green is the best of the lot imho. And hasn't that shot up in price since covid. FMD.

    • I agree, gold is better than this too

      • -1

If cost wasn't a factor you would choose gold over blue?
I find that very hard to believe.

        • +1

I definitely would and do, taste matters. To showcase blue is better because it has that price premium but taste wise definitely not a winner.

  • Thinking to sell my 1L bottle what would I get for it?

    • Depends on which 1L, leather bound boxes with silk lining and belt buckles go for more that the cardboard boxes

      • it's in cardboard box

        • I'll give you $200 for it. :)
