    I would avoid Jetstar ever. My flights including Domestic and International were cancelled 4 times in 2022.

      Pick an airline, any airline. In Aus, BITRE measured the industry performance and in March/July the average cancellation rate was >30%. :/ Fortunately October Jetstar was down to 3.9%, although worse than the average of 2.9%, a lot better than the peaks :/

      When that happens the cost is huge. As hotels and transportations are typically already paid in advance and are non-refundable.

      They're terrible to their staff.(someone dear to me got fired 2 days before their 6 month Flight Attendant 'probation' ended. They even had to paid out their own pocket 8 weeks training that was only meant to last 5 weeks too). No warning/ training/ reminder- 4 missing Drs sick certificates (over 181 days of very hard work). Plus- any or all passenger problems are identically impacted on Groundstaff and Air Personnel-the Real workers', no earnings/ stuck for days far from home too. Then they were locked out of emails/ access to the Contract, so can't get advice. Doubt CA/ or ACCC would care. Glad AirAsia, and hopefully Qatar will start to compete very soon. But until then they'll try as long as to Price gouge,in my humble opinion. Have a good day Bargainers and Merry Xmas/ Happy New Year.

        No doubt they would not be great to work for in this period, however the "email lockout" is 100% normal if you are fired - lesson learned: you should always keep a local copy of your own contract, not the employers system because the only time you will need it, you won't have it!
        As for advice - pointless, they were within their probation so its kind of tough luck / waste of time to pursue anything - no reason, warnings, or performance management needs to be given in probation.
        Chances are the fact they didn't like the job / conditions was showing in the employees attitude / performance.
        Sad to say, the employer was probably looking for gluttons for punishment whilst keeping a smile on their face without complaining or taking time off… and by the complaints, I'm guessing your friend probably wasn't that. By the sounds of it they'll be better off elsewhere anyway.

It also wouldn't be 181 days of very hard work as that would imply working 7 days per week solid - probably at most ~130 days with other leave / holidays.- Probably better than Jetstar's cancellation rate but still…

      Whats the hit rate? 4 out of 4?

      I read somewhere Jetstar had 70% on time flights. I suspect that number is inflated, eg cancelled so technically not a late flight?

        4 Out of 4 travels. All different dates. Never experienced like these unexpected cancellation before.

        • Inbound from Hanoi to Melbourne - cancelled and had to take Hanoi-Syney-Melbourne route as no flight left on the week.
        • Outbound from Melbourne to Hawaii - delayed and eventually cancelled in front of the gate. No compensation as my home is within 50km radius from the airport.
        • Outbound from Melbourne to Sydney 2 times. Had to take VA with an expensive rate to catch up other flight.

        Cancellation is not a delay or late flight. Customer should choose two options. Book other flight or get refund.

        If you already got a ticket, you would better check your email before going to the airport on the day even though the Jetstar app shows the flight is confirmed and On time status few hours ago.

    Wont fly Jetstar even if it was free they have cancelled my flights ,changed times ,3 day delays no notifications family had to sleep at airports and i know dozens of people this happened to & how this airline is still in business the way they treat people is obseen .

      I had a flight cancelled while in the US earlier this year, I had to pay $800 for a flight on an alternate airline, which I successfully claimed back through Travel insurance.

    Not much point booking with Jetstar when there's a good chance that they'll just cancel your flight at the last minute and you'll get no compensation.

    So listening to this feedback, one can assume Jetstar used to actually sell Return flights…. now deals are offered as One way as they recognise no one wants to fly with them a second time !?

      More like they cant promise you to return on those dates. The dates on your ticket are just a "suggestion" or a "lucky dip"

    Had a cancelled flight 6 months back on way back from vietnam. Experience was not as horrific as some but since then the amount of cancelations and no help people are talking about is staggering. Wont be flying with them again till there is some confidence it is sorted….. 2025 seems about the time they might get their sh1t together again

    This would need to be the school holiday fare inclusive of meals and checked baggage to entice me onto Jetstar, not the low/shoulder season.

      They've always advertised one way. There are cheap return flights too, but, for example, if I list all a week of prices, that's 7 prices one way. If I do it return, I need to show….21? (my maths is rusty) combinations of flights eg Fly Day 1, return day 2, fly day 1, return day 3, etc. This post is already long :P

          Jetstar generally only sells a few seats on each date at the price (gets the headlines). Click through to the hyperlinked list and try a couple of other dates, hopefully you'll find one that works. Prices regularly change anyway, let alone during a sale!

        Maybe, but the last time I flew to bail with jetstar it was 200 bucks return with luggage. Them the days….

      Not even on the way back! On the flight there, it looks like the only reason they are cheap is because it's a scam. They offer a crazy low price… with no luggage allowed. Then they charge something like $300 for a single piece of luggage. Just price manipulation as usual. No different than the 'free shipping' rought you find all over eBay.

        Syd-Nadi was about $170ish no bags. $250 with bag, seat and "food".

        I got 3 return tickets for $1600ish.

        No problems this end.

          That's pretty good. I figure for longer flights, e.g. to Japan, that's where this works out to be a bad deal.

          Edit: also, Fiji was great in July this year. Cold and wet in Sydney but a tropical wonder over there. Can't wait to go back some day.

    Sydney to Ho Chi Minh city at $195 is nowhere to be seen. All I see is $319 the lowest. What did I do wrong, or Jetstart has only 10 seats at the advertised price?

      Clear your browser cookies/cache. I've looked at flights before, closed the browser, came back later and prices have jumped, deleted the cookies/cache, prices fall.

    Cheap is only good if the flight are not cancelled or delayed at the last minute, will not fly with Jetstar for now due to the horrible stories that I heard. Will fly with non-Australian Airlines for now if I need to travel overseas.

      Yes. Like most OTAs some have had issues, and when things go well you tend to remember the airline, and when badly you go on productreview and rant about the OTA :) However, I actually used them for a trans-Tasman flight in November. Qantas tickets, appeared in my Qantas app within minutes, and zero problems.

      However, I gather IF you need to say, fix a mis-typed first name or something, it can cost you and the phone / email helpdesk is not looked on favourably by reviews online :/
