46% off during flash deal on a 1:14 scale car with very decent reviews. This is the upgraded model of the EC30, including a brushless motor which has more power, better throttle response and longer life. As well as oil filled shocks made of aluminium for absorbing jumps.

After a lot of research, this seems to be a great car for beginners, which is why I just ordered one myself :)

Also note the option to include additional batteries in your order.

Link to previous deal where lots of questions were answered: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/729384

    • Thanks, yeah always good to get this extra info.

  • +3

i picked up one of these in the last deal. great fun, easily fast enough for a novice like me and seems quite durable.

    • Good to know! Cheers.

    thx OP

Ordered for the kids, well, its really for me…

    Also ordered 2x extra batt's & upgraded motor '2838-4700kv'

    • +3

Haha, no worries. Yeah I got one for my son…even though he's only 19 months….

I'm sure he'll enjoy watching it whizz around, and seems like a good hobby for the kids to get into for things like hand/eye co-ordination, without having to stare at a screen.

Sounds like a good call on the motor, I believe that's the one fixable "flaw" mentioned in the linked review; that it's not quite as fast as anticipated. Bumps it up to about 45km/h, which is supposed to be a sweet spot for for these.

      • +1

Yes, it's been a long time since I've had an RC car. Modding back then was motor first, smaller drive gear & bigger battery (7.2 -> 8.4v etc)

Yeah, just went with recommended motor from the review. I was tempted to go bigger but thought I'd better stick with the recommendation for now. Maybe bigger wheels down the track..

        • +1

Yeah I can definitely see this hobby being a rabbit hole of $$$, but should be good fun and I enjoy tinkering with things. I also like the idea it'll get my son out the house and not using screens. One thing I'd like to know is the battery run time vs charge time. I couldn't find an exact answer, so went with the two battery option and hopefully can just interchange the two. I might also check out the charger and batteries you linked to. I also recall reading you can chuck WL toys wheels on these. Cheers.

          • +2

@happykamper: Batteries definetely take a while to charge, 3 to 4 hours from dead flat. Havn't taken too much notice so two batteries are definetely the way to go. I have 5 batteries for two cars. You get a solid 17 to 20 mins run time from the batteries, which decreases as the tyres go balf and thr more doughnuts you do….

            • @Slinky0111: Thanks a lot for the reply. Two batteries should do the job for a decent play season then.

    • Hi, will that battery/motor combo fit in this one? https://www.banggood.com/Eachine-EC30-1-or-14-2_4G-4WD-High-…?

  • Any lipo charger recommendations?

  • Looked at reviews it only foes 35kmh not 65km as in title of link.

    • +3

get the WLtoys 144010. Its a better option and hits 70km/h. I think ig you go 3S battery it can do much higher, some at 90kmh.

      • +1

I'm guessing you mean the 144001. I was on the fence between these two. I ended up going for the EC30B because I'm an RC newbie and the WL just seemed too fast if anything, and more likely to just slam into something and break. My main reason for getting this is to play with my son, so I would prefer something more reliable and controllable over something fast.

        • +2

The 144010 is the brushless version of the 144001.

The 144010 is much faster than the EC30B but also much more fragile.

          • @wombat81: Thanks for the clarification. For me the EC30B was the best combination of price / speed(actually want something that's not too fast) / durability.

I was thinking they meant 144001 because it's the one in the same price point as the EC30B.

          • @wombat81: is the 144010 more fragile? I did quite a bit or research and reviews pointed the 144010 to be better, thats why I ended up getting it over the EC30B (even though its quite a bit more than ec30b).
            144010 is also faster. No?

            • @Bruno28: The 144010 is definitely more fragile and definitely much faster.

Good review comparing the two. I got the WLtoys 144010 and its a blast! so fast!!!

      • Hey Bruno28, I'm looking to upgrade my battery in my 144001 can you point me to one you have?

        • +1

Hey, I havent actually tested the buggy yet.
I bought a monster truck and a Rlaarlo that im waiting to arrive and will sell the 144010. I have a few other 1000mah 3s that i used on FPV quadcopter that would probably suit but have not tried on this WLtoys. You can get batteries from hobbyking. Or some good cheap ones are HRB on ebay.

  • Will these cope with a good bashing? I have a small child under 5 and am interested in building up their coordination through this.

    • +1

If you look on YouTube, there's a lot of reviews and videos where people give it a good bashing. The one thing it seemed to strik strugglee with was going through a large puddle in grass, but I couldn't imagine wanting to get this thing that wet anyway.

    • +3

They're based on the HBX 16889a Pro platform which is known as one of the most robust cars in this bracket. So yes, it should be tough.

    • +1

These don't cope so well with jumping on concrete as the exposed front suspension will bend and break with big hits.
      Otherwise they are very tough

    • +2

Extemely well. Mine has been used by a many children under 6. Only issue so far is the front bar where the stop of the shocks are attached has bent. Probably from the car doing too many cart wheels….. but pretty easy to take off and bang with a hammer to flatten back out

  • How did you get the price to $130.45 shipped? Mines charging $6.06 shipping

    • +1

Title was changed by mod, then deal unpublished (I guess due to a report). Mods have kindly corrected the error and re-published.

  • any thoughts on a bigger battery and brushless motor for this: https://www.banggood.com/Eachine-EC30-1-or-14-2_4G-4WD-High-…

Anyone with the know how on which battery/brushless motor? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003112776000.html

    • +2

I have one of these for my el cheapo hbx. Does the job and doesn't break the bank. I rate the surpass motors. My racing rigs are all fitted with their rocket series and does as well as the other big name brands.

    • Read Quadify's review. He discusses motor upgrades.

  • +1

Thanks. What is the biggest brushless motor that will fit? '2838-4700kv' like the above?
Also, biggest battery? 7.4V 2200mAh like above?

  • Mine arrived today. Great fun, and definitely fast enough for me, even in "slow" mode! I've never used this style of controller, but was surprisingly easy to get the hang of, especially using for handbrake style turns. Battery lasted about 45-50 mins, which is more than expected, so two batts should definitely be enough for now. I suspect will need some new wheels at some point with all the skids and slides though 😄

  • Received mine today, might need to get creative though on how to mount the extra battery I bought.
The battery slot is a bit small for the LIPO. Any ideas?

    https://au-m.banggood.com/Wltoys-7_4V-2200mAh-20C-2S-T-Plug-…

    • Yeah that's a big lipo for a car this size…

  • Does anyone know where to get spare parts for the Eachine EC30B? I'm finding it a little difficult and wondering if there is another car which uses the same parts to make it easier given these are rebranded from my understanding. Thanks in advance

    • What parts do you need? Banggood and AliExpress would be the two main places but you may also find them on Amazon or Ebay. It does share many parts with the HBX 16889a Pro and the Flyhal fc600.

I don't have this car but if assume it comes with a list of pay binders in the instruction manual. Using those pay binders to search might help.

If you join Quadify's HBX group, people there will be able to help you out too.

      • Pay binders = part numbers. Damn autocorrect…
