Asurion Trying to Charge Me 2nd Time for Same Device!

So just received an email today from Asurion
"As the device we received is an In-eligible Device, we will not be refunding the Security Charge amount of $650, which is equivalent to the trade-in credit you received. For more information, please refer to the Samsung Trade-Up Terms and Conditions.
If you are unhappy with this outcome and would like to discuss it with one of our friendly staff, please contact us by clicking on the “contact us” link below. "

I traded the Ultra S21 in March. They tried to claim that my device was not as described and charged me.
I proved with my own photos and eventually they emailed and replied.

"We have accepted your device to be in good working order now. Please send us a screenshot if you have been charged so we can refund the amount for you."

Now they are trying again today to charge me! Or "not refund me". Will have to check since I did get my money back, if they are now going to try and charge my card again.

Doesn't seem to be anyway to contact them either….

This company is really resorting to dirty tactics now

I had my online order cancelled and refunded by Samsung. I emailed Asurion 10 days out from my trade in due date advising them it was cancelled and provided the screenshots. They still charged me the $65 for for not trading it in by the due date. Then said it would take up to 7 business days for a refund of that and we're going on 9 business days.

These companies processes are fine when everything goes by the normal path. When the processes go into alternatives, their systems just cannot handle it.

  • Here is their email for anyone that needs it
    [email protected]

I've had problems with 4 trade-ins so far. 2 from the previous year. And now 2 from this year.

Stupid thing is this is an email based on the new system where they put a hold on the amount. When I did my trade-ins there was no hold on my card.
I have changed my card too since earlier this year, so not sure what they can do if they tried.

Will be interesting if they do send back my phones

Could it be that Asurion has realised the 2nd hand phone market has really bottomed out and what they offered in trade in is way over the 2nd selling price of the phone? So this is one way to try and reduce their losses.

I sent them a response with dates of all emails back and forth. Told them I would be making a complain to consumer affairs and said if they kept harassing me with fraudulent claims I would go to the police (yeah I know…police would say bugger off go see your lawyer). But makes it sound like im taking it very seriously.

Ill be sticking to selling privately or using JB who use square trade for trade-ins. Jb sales guy I was talking to recently said to also try mobilemonster as pay a fraction more than squaretrade.

  • Got an email for both claims saying Asurion accidentally sent out the emails and to ignore. Wonder what would have happened if I didn't challenge it
