2 years ago I got a HTC desire free on a $49 cap with 2GB included data. The new Iphone at the time (4?) was available on this plan free too.
Now I can't even get a reasonable handset on their new shitty $60 cap with horrible call rates and 1GB data. But in the meantime everyone else has gotten cheaper.
Poor form Telstra!
I'm glad they have done this. Telstra is a premium network and should remain that way. If people are after plans with large amounts of data they can sign up with the already congested Vodafone or Optus networks.
Think of it this way. Telstra increase data on plans > more people sign up > more people congesting the network > everyone complaining about how slow Telstra is.
They can't win!

I think he was saying Telstra should do plans like Optus and Vodafone and have a network like them too. That would be good form.

Wonder if when your $49 cap 2yrs is up if you can still keep that rate and just buy your own handset if you want a new one ?
Sure can, but you don't benefit from the handset repayments built in to the plan cost.
They will listen when customers show their dusgust by signing up elsewhere.
Their network is good but just how much is it worth?
