      Jackson 4

Probably not because it was the Jackson 5

    • Where's he going to use it? In the afterlife?

    • Ladies and gentlemen… we bring you the JACKSON 4 (the brand is bad, it's bad, you know it…)

      • Shammon…

    • Good deal for Janet

  • with 4 USB

    I must be blind

Where does it mention USB ???

      • -7

Oh, that's a different one then.

        • Yeah, the second one.

          • -5

@RSmith: Title looks like you are referring to one.

"Outlet Individually Switched Powerboard with 1 Metre Lead $11, Surge Protected with 4 USB"

Not sure how to put it in the title :(

      Yeah, apparently can't see commas.

        comma is separating the adjectives.

      "I must be blind…"
yep, it's only in 4 places
      .

      • But I want it spelled out to me!

  • +14

it can fast charge 4 devices at once with a powerful 2.1A output

    LOL.

    • +1

Yeah, do not buy the usb one lol

      • Its still handy for things that don't need fast charging though. Firestick can run off 2.1 cant it? Watch chargers, Just odds and ends like that

        • A lot of things like you mentioned will charge off 2.1A
But a lot of things won't charge when that there is more than 1 item charging at the same time.

Is there usually a 4 switch surge protected board without USB or is that only the 5/6 socket one?

My current 6 socket board needs replacing as two of the sockets do not work properly. I purchased it roughly 5 years ago so it is out of warranty.

Oh, the surge protected 4 socket is not on sale.. Hmm, I might wait then…

    • Lol warranty did you buy it from dollar store

    • Jackson has life time warranty to its products. Not sure if still does it.

  • Few days ago I saw a cable management box on clearance in Bunnings. Includes a large plastic box, a power board with 4 surge-protected outlets, 3 USB ports (2 C and 1 A) at 45W, a 15W Qi wireless charger and a C-to-C USB cable. Was also half-price, $22.5 down from $45, even though I have no idea about the brand reputation (Click).

    • +1

Click is a Bunnings home brand, which have very mixed quality ranging from average to recalled. At that price I would likely have taken punt on it.

  • +1

are the gaps wide enough to really make use of all 4 slots?

    • I use the SPB44 DOSS 4 way board as all 4 are usuable with larger plugs, adaptor etc.
Bought my last 2 with free delivery on Amazon and ebay for under $15.

Is surge or overload protection a better feature for safety? One has surge protection, while the other has overload protection.

    • +5

Piggyback one into the other, and you'll be covered for both! :)

      (Dont do that!)

    • +6

The $19.75 board has both surge and overload protection. The $11 board just has overload.

Surge protection is designed to protect your plugged in equipment from momentary spikes in your power supply. Being a cheapie surge board, I wouldn’t expect more than 175 Joules capacity which isn’t much.

Overload protection is a crude way to limit how much is drawn through the board to about 10 Amps or 2400 Watts which is the rating of the board.

Please don’t confuse these with a safety switch or Residual Current Device (RCD) which are designed for safety.

      • +2

Need 2000 joules with fast clamping time and reasonable clamping voltage to be considered useful
        175 joules =nothing

  • +6

Every single Jackson powerboard I habe, at least one of the slots stops working within a couple of months.

    • I experienced the exact same issue with about 4 powerboards over the last 5 years.

      • +2

        Not getting a good bibe.

    • I started seeing sparks inside the individual switches. Binned it and replaced it with a HPM. So far so good.

      • that's normal.

        • What is normal? Seeing sparks in the Jackson one, or not seeing them in the HPM one?

          • @bio: sparks in general. HPM would have just had a switch that hides the sparks a little better.

    • Lifetime Warranty*
*See Jackson Power website for more information.

I had them replaced with very little hassle.

      • Did you need the origional receipt or packaging?

      • I also want to mention that the Crest brand also sucks as the switch button broke from minimal use.

  • You Jackson? You don't look like a Jackson.

  • save your money and get the smart one on amazon for $39

each port is individually controlled and timers can be set.

I have had this for some time now.

I can't comment about surge protection and fuses, but I do know they are considerably better built than the cheaper ones or similarly priced. The plastic feels solid, whole and bulky as it should instead of the thin and flimsy feeling of cheaper ones, but MOST IMPORTANTLY the switches are good quality, the springs in them are consistent even after a year by which time most low to mid range switches get some sloppiness on them, this does not. It also doesn't have that strange thing where the mid point gets loose while you're flipping the switch, the electricity turns on before you've even flipped it all the way.

Tldr, for $11 I would suggest this because it's better than most if not all 4 slot strips. If you were to spend any more…go get a Belkin instead.

  • for surge protection had bought one by digitek with 3400 joules protection- many these days offer only up to 900 joules if any, and others dont even state the amount.

  • -3

Don't buy this…its very cheap quality otherwise get a Arlec or Belkin power surge protector at power point then plug this in

  • why is this exciting?

  • Bought two, one is on the desk and one is on the kitchen bench for recharging while cooking. Good deal. Thanks OP.

  • Bought two yesterday. Thank you :)

  • Tried three Woolworths in Sydney, all showed they had stock online but when I got there they apparently never had them…

  • So many left in alex heights in Wa for anyone looking for one .
