Perfect present to the vegans next door.

    • -3

Next minute … vegans organise protest outside UGG head office to save the roo

    • -3

      If you’re a jerk

      • -4

I know right, why would you think that's appropriate?

        • +20

It's just a joke, not a dick, no need to go full Reddit & take it so hard.

          • +6

@Ham Dragon: You can spot the bearded Redditors from a mile away.

    • +1

Can they be sent to friends and relatives overseas? How much would delivery be?

    • +9

Why do so many people find the "haha Im owning the vegans by shoving dead animals in their face" type of jokes funny? Is it some sort of NPC humor??

      • +17

Its more that it's retaliation for the "you know I'm a Vegan" statements we have all had to endure. If was introduce myself as a connoisseur of all things meat, I would expect some ribbing. Mmmm ribs.

I am grossed out by the kangaroo skin (RIP skippy) but the comment was in jest, liven up .

        • +1

I'm here for the ribs. How long is the wait?

        • Things that barely happen outside of the internet.

I also don't understand the need to one up each other in how annoying you are. Some sort of new cultural need to be as inoffensive or as offensive as possible.

          • +1

@FallaM: Have you seen the vegan popup stands they do where they show animals in slaghterhouses? I was in Pitt St mall in Sydney and they did one with blaring speakers and screens held by people with guy Fawkes masks (for some reason, doubt he was a vegan). I kind of get why people retaliate by eating chicken or whatever animal products in front of them as the vegans in that case, are inviting retaliatory behaviour by being so proactive in the first place. Not something I'd waste my time on personally though. But if someone was just being an (profanity), even if there was an annoying vegan that is trying to be a bit pushy, I would say eating meat in front of them is a dick move.

      • Probably because vegans like to smear themselves in🩸 and shove their views in everyone’s faces.

        • +10

I'm a vegan and I couldn't give a rat's what you eat, none of my business. No need to throw everyone in the same basket, is that any better?

      • +1

I agree, dark humour should be at your own expense

      • If anything , it makes good use of what's left . Don't think ? Don't think you'd get an argument out of the Aboriginals with that or doesn't that apply anymore !
Personally, I'd like to get a couple but won't risk trying to mail overseas just so customs can seize it …

      • In older times, if it wasn't for humans using animal skins for warmth, shelter and tools they would not have been able to live in cooler climates. Synthetics were not invented until relatively recently.
I have not heard of any archeologists finding any vinyl or polyester fleece in their digs. /s

Many modern cultures such as Saami and Inuit still rely on animal skins for clothing too. I wear a sheepskin coat and hat when I travel to places with subzero temperatures as no synthetic alternative is better.

      • it's bascially check mate for a vegan

  • +65

    Think I'll skip this deal.

    • -5

tchk tchk tchk , bad pun dude

    • +9

And all this time I was rooting for you

    • Is that you skippy

    • +5

Why though? I jumped on it straight away.

      • +5

These puns are making me hopping mad.

  • +41

I must admit, after going rural and seeing what overpopulation and starvation looks like for a whole mob, this (and the culling) is much less 'jarring' than seeing a bearskin rug or such.

    • +2

A land of booms and busts eh

    • -1

in Tasmania? Culling the feral deer population would be better.

      • +4

You neg because you think this should be deer skin?

      • +1

Yeah well , their skin and flesh can be utilised too !

        • Deer populations are massive in SE Aust and in Tassie at the moment and are probably having a serious impact on the environment. Not a good use of a neg for this deal though as it has nothing to do with the topic.

  • -5

I'm hopping for another Sheepskin deal

    • +8

No more hopping with this one!

  • +11

Gawd! I thought it was roadkill. Terrible thumbnail pic.

    • +11

      Maybe it is roadkill?

    • +3

      thanks for heads up.

      it did look so good

    • +1

How odd. The skins in brick and mortar UGG stores are nice.

I wonder where "that" stock is coming from. Eesh.

    • +2

      Please Read Carefully!

Tasmanian Grey 'Soft Fur' Kangaroo Rugs

      • +16

We purchased "1 × Kangaroo Rug - rug $59.00" from you in October 2021, which is the same product as you are selling now.

The fur NOT soft, the individual hairs are long and aligned in the same way, in some ways its almost like a course brush.
The skin IS very rigid and feels very thin.
To me it does NOT "providing superior comfort and warmth".
My wife who loves the sheepskin rug we also purchased from you does not like the Kangaroo one.
While the size does match the measurements, it was also much smaller than expected, more wallaby size than kangaroo.

However, I am not suggesting it is a quality control issue, defective product nor a reason to be negative to this deal (or any others), instead I presume it is just the normal properties of a Kangaroo skin. Kangaroos are not sheep, alpaca's or other animals who have warm, soft luxurious fur. Kangaroos skin/fur is, as I described above, more like cows or goats.

If you genuinely think that the "1 × Kangaroo Rug - rug $59.00" we purchased should be as you describe: "pure, warm and luxurious Tasmanian Grey 'Soft Fur' Kangaroo. Our kangaroo rug will give your home a deluxe feel, whilst providing superior comfort and warmth" does that mean the product we received is defective and we can return it, to swap for a merino rug which IMHO does match that description? (you are welcome to send me a PM

Or perhaps should you be more honest and realistic with your marketing spiel for this specific product?

        • Kangaroos in Tasmania have a much softer coat because of the colder weather conditions in Tassie…

          • +5

@UGGAustraliaOfficial: So your customers are giving constructive criticism about how it’s “soft fur” doesn’t live up expectations and all you can do is discredit them? I wasn’t going to neg you but now you just earned yourself another.

            • +4
              • @UGGAustraliaOfficial: Is it soft as in comparable to a sheep? Or is it soft for a kangaroo but still feels like hogs bristles? These are two very different things.

Also, I have purchased a sheepskin from these guys and it was excellent, no complaints from me.

              • @UGGAustraliaOfficial: I agree. It is a fact. People are comparing it to sheepskin and in comparison it is not as soft. But its soft enough. I use it every day on my office chair. It is so comfortable and feels really good. No product can satisfy everyone but as long as the majority likes it then that's what matters.

              • +1

@UGGAustraliaOfficial: It's a fact that the product you're selling is grossly misrepresented in the spiel given. The more you fight with unhappy previous customers, it sort of shows the fight that you have in getting your refund back for low quality items delivered. I did end up getting a full refund on paid return for the joke of a rug that was sent out to me. I know what a soft kangaroo skin feels like, these are not soft. Extremely low quality, poorly processed and overpriced for what they are.

            • +4

@bennybaubles: To be fair, the customers probably have no idea what kangeroo skin is 'supposed' to be like.

              • @Budju: Maybe so but what they are saying is it doesn’t live up the the spiel of "pure, warm and luxurious Tasmanian Grey 'Soft Fur' Kangaroo. Our kangaroo rug will give your home a deluxe feel, whilst providing superior comfort and warmth"

              • @Budju: I know what they are supposed to feel like. These are terrible.

            • @bennybaubles: How old are you ? Critical Thinking , still eating meat , right ?

              • +3

@Murkymerv: Yeah I eat meat, what’s your argument? What the hell does that have to do with what I’ve said above?

                • +1

@bennybaubles: Hold fast Benny Baubles, these veegs keep trying to subvert our frank and honest conversations. Hold fast lad.

          • +2

@UGGAustraliaOfficial: Classic non-sequitur. The notion that living Tasmanian Eastern Greys MAY, at some time during a year, have a softer coat than other roos (no evidence provided) does not mean therefore your treated skins are soft and furry. Just checked your link and it doesn't suggest anything like your claim. You could simply say that we think our skins are reasonably soft and furry. Currently, anyone who receives a skin which isn't soft or furry is entitled to return the item at YOUR cost for either a replacement or a full refund.

        • How big do you think an eastern grey is? They’re small animals. You’re complaining that it matched the size on the listing, but you expected it to be bigger?

        • Seemed like detailed feedback until I got to "While the size does match the measurements, it was also much smaller than expected". What the hell is wrong with all the muppets on here today.

      • +1

No such thing. Tasmanian does not have a species known as a "Tasmanian Grey 'Soft Fur' Kangaroo" which the OP has mentioned at least twice.

If these are sourced from Tassie, they are either Forester kangaroo or a Bennetts wallaby.

        • If they run low on stock there's no shortage of Pademelons I could collect for them off the side of the road. Sadly, there is always a large number along the Bass Highway, despite how quickly Transport Services come along to clear them away.

        • +1

The eastern grey kangaroo is a marsupial found in the eastern third of Australia, with a population of several million. It is also known as the great grey kangaroo and the forester kangaroo

          • -1

@UGGAustraliaOfficial: RIght, So you confirmed you made up a species.

You don't appear to be doing UGG's reputation any favours in the comments here OP, maybe take a breather.

      • +7

        Have you PM them?

      • +16

Yes, a well respected member of the community, with lots of good deals posted.

I too had an unhappy experience with your company, but eventually good customer service made up for it. My advice: spend time on helping customers who still need help, not on arguing with those who felt let down in the past.

      • +17

        What an unprofessional response.

      • +9

This is how they respond to everyone that highlights their poor quality, false advertising and poor customer service.

Shows a lot about the company.

      • +8

You need to work on your professionalism. I don't know how some businesses survive

@docians can you please update the Australian Ozbargain community which country you’re currently residing in?

          • +1

            @UGGAustraliaOfficial:

@docians can you please update the Australian Ozbargain community which country you’re currently residing in?

gladly, as soon as you tell us what country the soles of your 100% Australian made shoes are made in
and enlighten us as to what incentives you are offering for your positive reviews

            • -2

@docians: We have a range of suppliers for different soles, our major supplier is located in Adelaide South Australia and another located internationally if stock not available in Australia.

No, we do not offer any incentives for positive reviews nor negative reviews.

Now please enlighten the OzBargain community on which Country you’re currently residing in?

              • @UGGAustraliaOfficial:

We have a range of suppliers for different soles, our major supplier is located in Adelaide South Australia and another located internationally if stock not available in Australia.

Not interested in knowing where your suppliers are located.

The question which you are trying to evade is, are your soles of your boots made in Australia?

If they are please confirm that they are.

              • @UGGAustraliaOfficial:

No, we do not offer any incentives for positive reviews nor negative reviews.

here is a screen shot which says otherwise
                https://ibb.co/qjTV6kL

happy to post more screenshots :)

I find it hard to believe that people who post 4 or 5 star reviews would somehow conspire against this store and lie that Ugg Australia offered them incentives to post their positive reviews

and surely it is not productreview that has offered incentives for 5* reviews of ugg australia as their guidelines state

We also strongly recommend that businesses ensure that their incentives are compliant with guidelines set by the Australian Consumer and Competition Commission (ACCC), in accordance with the Competition and Consumer Act (2010).

Would be interested in knowing then who is offering customers incentives for 5* reviews of Ugg Australia, and what those incentives are :)

                • +1

@docians: There is a difference between offering an incentive to post a positive review, and incentive to post a review in general.

Incentives like "Post a review and get a $5 voucher" are probably up to code (though I would argue that is only likely to incentivise people that had good experience and will want to buy again…)
Incentives like "Post a positive review/change your negative review and we'll give you a $5 voucher" are clearly not okay."

                  • @NigelTufnel:

There is a difference between offering an incentive to post a positive review, and incentive to post a review in general.

                    agree

trouble is the rep from Ugg Australia says no incentives were offered, when they clearly were
and in the last six months most if not all for the 4/5 star reviews were incentivised

with 211 reviews, 105 were one star
you remove then ten examples of 5* reviews above that were incentivised, and to my untrained eye it seems like there is an incentive to skew :)

Incentives like "Post a positive review/change your negative review and we'll give you a $5 voucher" are clearly not okay."

doubt many people who had a bad product/ experience, would for a fiver change their review from negative to glowing :)

          • +2

@UGGAustraliaOfficial: I was thinking of buying one, but not a chance now. If you're really marketing/have marketing experience you're bloody terrible at it.

Some absolute howler responses in these comments.

            Shame.

            • @deva5610: That’s fine @deva5610 we have the same down voters for the passed 2 years;
              A lot of them using VPN addresses located overseas;

              We are a family run Australian business and these people keep downvoting us every deal;

Either it’s footwear, Rugs, homewares - constantly bombarding us- if you look at their history you will see.

              • +1

@UGGAustraliaOfficial: So don't bite? You're coming across extremely unprofessional when you do.

It's not hard to remain professional while responding to trolls and it'll present a better image of the company when you do!

                • @deva5610: Yes you’re 100% right, it’s just very frustrating when they constantly follow your deals just to try and ruin any success of them;
                  It hurts businesses and Australian manufacturers, especially when they’re using VPN address from foreign countries;
Your comment is valid and noted, thank you.

                  • @UGGAustraliaOfficial: I"m thinking about buying a rug for your pure honesty instead of fake PR which everyone seems to want to hear.

              • @UGGAustraliaOfficial: I'm Australian, no vpn. These rugs are terrible. I have no experience with any other items you sell. I've read reviews that your sheep skins are actually quite good. After my experience with these rugs I am reluctant to order one to try.
I know bad processing work when I see it. Still have the photos from the one I sent back. Can completely validate my claim.
Return process once someone finally responded to me was straight forward enough. Rerun postage was covered, no out of pocket expense, just wasted time and distrust due to low level customer service overall.

      • +2

        Rep, your attitude stinks 💩.

        We also have positive comments

You don't have to point out you're essentially bribing customers to leave a good review.

        • And nobody needs your words of poison either !

    • +6

Kangaroo fur/hairs are not soft. Its not like sheepskin. Is there an unrealistic expectation?

      • +7

Agree as per my comment above, however it does seem that the marketing blurb for this product does creates unrealistic expectations.

    • +3

I bought one, months ago and I don't have any major complaints on the product. Its definitely not as "plush" soft as sheepskin but its still pretty soft. I would say most people have never pet a real live kangaroo before and then make a complaint like that. I use it on my office chair and its very comfortable. The only small complaint I have is that there's no estimated size as kangaroos themselves comes in all different sizes.

    • +1

Agree with you, purchased one not long ago in a recent deal. Hard as a rock, paper thin, hardly any fur, could not fold it so they rolled it. Would never buy form this company again and would not recommend to anyone

    • +1

Thanks for @ing me. I've been trying to keep an eye out for these to come back on again to alert people to how terrible these truly are.
