On sale from Toocki are these new USB-C to USB-C cables with USB Power Delivery 3.1 and up to 240W fast charging as introduced in the new standard. There's also cables supporting 100W and 60W PD fast charging in the same listing for a lower price with various lengths available.

They're nylon braided for extra durability and only support USB 2.0 data transfer speeds, however this has no impact on the fast charging.

Whats the quality like on this brand? Anywhere close to Baseus or Ugreen?

    • +3

Baseus and Ugreen are pretty much rebadges of everyone else. Toocki's nylon cables are good in my experience.

      • Do these guys send you some samples to test/play with a bit?

        • +5

Nah never. I posted because they're good cables and cheap.

          • +1

@Clear: You're always on with a good deal, so I appreciate all the leg work trying them out 😊

            • +1

@incipient: About 50 orders between Singles Day and Black Friday so there's plenty more to try out and share!

  • Thanks, picked up some 25cm Cables for power banks.

  • +1

If you're buying a longer or more than one cable I'm also seeing $1 off $3/$6 store codes.

  • dammit. only 480M. still on the lookout for 10gps cables

    • For something reliable, your best bet will probably be some tb3/4 cables. Cost you a bit extra, but at least you'll know they'll do what you need.

      • yup. thems $40 each

        • I've found a few good ones around $25 I think? But yeah definitely more expensive.

          • @incipient: Where? Can you link them

            • @flashi007: I use Amazon once/year if that…but for some insane reason these are $60 on ebay.

I had them on a bit of a sale.

              • @incipient: Honestly, Thunderbolt 3 cables are best used for data. A lot of them are 80cm ones.

Apple USB-C to USB-C cable is only USB 2.0 (it is mainly for charging). Buying a Thunderbolt 3 or 4 dock which can passthrough 100W is expensive and silly (unless you are a Pro or work pays for one). For pure charging, that 3rd party Thunderbolt 3 cable is more expensive than Apple original 2m.

                • @netsurfer: Yeah the original comment was looking for 10gbps cables. I've tried a few and they're really hit and miss, and good ones are often $20 anyway.

                  • @incipient: Fair enough, if it is for 10Gbps, then the recent Lenovo Edu Store deal seems okay. 1m Lenovo USB-C Cable (10Gbps) for $13.30 seems okay.

I am a bit cynical about those 80cm Thunderbolt 3 cables. Don't get me wrong, I do have a couple of those (again, when they were discounted, one from Anker, the other is CableCreation I think). The shorter the cable, the harder it is to really spot issues. If you have a Thunderbolt device, then fair enough, you can test.

  • In my experience nylon braiding frays faster than standard cables get damaged.

    • The main case I've found is when badly made nylon weave comes apart and the cable inside kinks and comes out of the gap. Even my (well made lol?) logitech has had this problem.

      • I have also had it happen with logitech (and razer). Maybe it's just a mouse thing lol

    • Yes, nylon cables are mil-spec cables were originally designed to be very tough. They are very expensive. I suspect most of the consumer ones just look like mil-spec cables and don't have real nylon or teflon braiding.

  • Thanks OP got a 3m 240W Cable.

240W?? What's the use? Highest I heard of was 120W with Xiaomi's latest models.

    • +3

USB-C/PD 3.1 goes up to 240W. I reckon it is just the emark chip is coded to support up to 240W. The original intention is to cover desktop replacement type laptop or maybe even some desktop.

      USB-C continues to be a pain. One more type of cables to get (USB-C (el cheapo) 2.0 / up to 3A), USB-C 3.0/3.1/3.2 gen 1, USB-C 3.2 gen 2, USB 3.2 gen 2x2, Thunderbolt 3, USB-4 (TB3), Thunderbolt 4, USB-C PD 3.1, USB-C to lightning, USB-C to micro USB-B, USB-C to USB-A 3.2 gen 2, USB-C to HDMI, USB-C to DisplayPort, etc…).

      • I'm clearly behind the curve 😅

Article says "9 minutes," but I'm not one to squabble over a miser minute.

There's a $1.48 off $4.85 coupon to use so might as well get two cables

    • Then shipping isn't free.

  • +1

Damn will get delivered sometime in February nice got two Thanks

    • +1

They are mostly overestimated anyway. My black friday order estimates of mid Jan are arriving this week.

  • It's funny none of the laptops listed actually uses PD 3.1.

    looks like typical Ali scam

You get what you pay for.

    • Excellent quality cables. You're 100% on the dot there, thanks for the support.

      • I aren’t supporting ya might as well throw ones money away Than buying these super cheap cables.

        • +2

Throw it in my direction please. Thanks again.

        • +1

Yeah, obviously not worth the risk using it on an important device. I am somewhat keen to get one as a toy. Kinda want to find out whether it has proper e-marking done and how well it performs on an old laptop which I don't really care about. From past experience, despite being an old USB-C laptop, when you put a dodgy cable to it, it somehow knows and drops the voltage and current a bit.

@netsurfer: I just wouldn't use these cables at all. Not even USB-IF certified.
            https://www.usb.org/products

For other example, Adata, Ugreen, Orico are all certified

            • @Blitzfx: Ugreen have finally decided to join USB-IF? When they've been dismissive for so long up until recently

            • @Blitzfx: I use original cables (Apple, Samsung, Dell, Lenovo, Microsoft) cables and accessories. Only exception is external storage devices, I have a mixture of branded ones (WD, Samsung) and the usual suspects (Orico, Ugreen, etc…).

USB-IF certified means nothing. Those makers could change batches / suppliers. Furthermore, AmazonBasics USB-IF certified cables can be iffy.

I do buy toys and let them collect dust though.

          • @netsurfer: give it to someone you hate

  • The issue where I can find 240w charger and which USB C device I need 240w

    • The 16" Macbook Pro's support 140W charging which is included under the PD3.1 spec. There's already a Hyperjuice and Ugreen 140W charger, but 240W isn't quite there.

You're essentially future proofing yourself. Alternatively grab the cheaper 100W or 60W cables instead.

      • +1

Macbook Pro's Thunderbolt 4 port currently only supports up to 100W (and I don't think Apple has a exactly 100W charger so 96W). To get >100W charging on MBP, the expensive USB-C to Magsafe cable is needed.

  • Bought 2, great deal, thanks for the post

    Someone explain to me please!

Up until a few years ago usb was doing 5w

Now we have 240w on similar cables…

So what exacly has changed to allow so much more power through a similar wire?

This scares me the rate at which these "certified" specs are coming out!

Reminds me of nvidia 16pin and 737 max planes where "profit" > "safety" for these companies!

    • bruh moment

  • it's only 2.82 USD for 1m 240w.

    • Alvian overruled my original prices. Seems the price depends on your membership level and if there's any coupons.

  • I got 2, it also offered me a promo code which brought it down a little to $5.28 delivered for both.

  • Nice find, thanks OP. I got two 240W in white.

Nothing says official like "Toocki -ZERO-fficialflagship AliExpress"

  • Has anyone had any trouble getting free delivery? The option disappears on checkout.

    • I've had to change the qty to just 1 for free delivery. I noticed free shipping drops out when trying to place 2 as the order qty.

  • Would anyone be able to recommend something to connect my Oculus Quest 2 to a PC?

    I'm wanting about a 4.5m length, either USB-C or A.

  • Silly question, can this 240w cable fast charge my Dell latitude laptop? ;)
