I believe the Membership is free.
Hopefully the queue is not too long as I need to get back to work!
Cheers!!!

"Guests must be aged 18 years or over to enter the Casino and Garden Buffet."
Possibly need to be over 18 to become a rewards member, but not over 18 to enter Garden Buffet. They have prices for kides aged 5-12yrs, and kids 4 and under dine free.
Thanks for correcting that. I got the above from their voucher.
Good to know that kids are able to enter.
If I'm having lunch there with a friend, do we both have to be members or just one of us?
Not sure, but membership is free.
You need a member to make the purchase. That's what we did. AFAIK they don't require membership of you to eat the purchased food.
On the other hand this is not in the food quarter section so maybe they do ask you to pay before tucking in and that's where they apply the member discount. If that happens, then go join up at the service desk.
There are other member deals in the food quarter such as the $7.50 steak.
Are the prawns still in the sick tub sitting in sickly liquid like years ago when I first (and last) tried it?
Go in and have a look around the food before buying. That's what I do all the time.
You can't really expect unlimited ultimate prawns + everything else they have to offer for $9.90, but last time I went the prawns were decent.
It's free before July 15.
For that "free lunch" there's a reference to a footnote and I can't find what the T&Cs are. Maybe you have to wager your starter bet money to get the free lunch. Wouldn't surprise me.
Perhaps you have to lose $50 before you are entitled to a free lunch. If you win, then you have to buy your own lunch!
Which isn't a problem, throw it on a third in $5 roulette.
1/3 times you'll get $40, 2/3 times you'll just lose your free bet.
No, you don't. A lot of people have had the free buffet plus the $20 voucher. A tip I recieved is to bet $10 on black and $10 on red (if you play Roulette) and then take the money, unless zero comes up obviously.
free food + free money!, sounds good to me
my intel tells me parking is also free between 10am-6pm Mon-Fri but do check with them first.
too bad I have to work during the week otherwise I would be able to confirm this myself.
Thanks, now I know what to do with the $20 voucher I still have from joining up. With my luck I'll probably get zero. :)
A discussion in the other thread says you can't bet less than $25 on black or red so that tip doesn't work if that's the case. Too good to be true.
please read my comment below
on website it says parking is $15… www.star.com.au/find-us/Pages/parking.aspx
The queue WILL be long, so go at an non-ordinary time to avoid that.
Waiting in queue for buffet now… It takes more than an hour. Don't come until after school holidays. Security said people were waiting from 10am this morning for the opening.
Don't even try until after school holidays and even then on non-popular days.
is it free to become an Absolute Rewards members?
have you read the other posts on here?
is it Australia wide?
its open to everyone in australia, but the star city casino is in Sydney.
I went there last month and it is free to join, you go to the counter sign up for free they hand you $20 worth of chips to use to gamble and your lunch voucher. no catch they just want you in the club (and for you to lose your money, but thats up to your own self control) its that simple. we put the money on this spin the wheel photo thing. just put it on 1/1 and because 9/10 times it lands on that and we got our $20 and had the buffet lunch it was good and the prawns were good. there is a large variety of food and unlimtied soft drinks included so $10 is a good offer. Someone's always got to complain though so hey if you are fussy about how you like your prawns (like me) then dont go just for the prawns, if you just want prawns buy $10 worth of prawns at the fish markets. lower your expectations then you wont be dissappointed.
thanks for this fantastic post
It's cheap, but really the food taste awfull, better of going to sizzler.
Queues are long.
When you get to the front of the queue the table allocation process is dysfunctional and slower than it should be.
It was painful to queue for more than an hour and see this messy allocation ''system''.
They have a staff member repeatedly blaring out the numbers of the size tables he needs to table allocation staff.
This causes confusion and slows the process and the giant queue.
Instead they should have table spotters who alert the queue controller via radio or wifi device the instant a table is free and in which zone.
Thus the queue would move much faster and tables would be filled more quickly instead of sitting empty.
I don't blame staff - they struggle with the process they are given. But management need to urgently revamp the process.
All they are doing now is giving away $10 buffets to people who would be so angered by the long queue that they would not want to return to the casino again. Defeats the purpose of the promotion.
Again - avoid the buffet during school holidays! It will only get worse.
I went yesterday at about 1:30pm and I kid you not, there were at least 300 people in the line to get in. The queue was full upstairs and then continued on downstairs. The security told me they had actually closed the line and that it wouldn't be possible to go even if I did wish to wait (which I didn't). He said the wait was currently about 1.5 to 2 hours.
crazy.
forget it
Thanks, we enjoyed the $10 chili mud crab last time.
