Affordable 2x 27” QHD 60-75hz Secondary Monitor

I’ve been using a Dell s2721DS as my main monitor with 2 old 2009 monitors (1200p, 1680x1050) as secondary. The issue is these old monitors have terrible colour, illumination (<200), viewing and use a lot of power (thus a lot of heat). For the purpose of getting some monitors by Christmas, what is the best option for two 27” QHD 60-75hz monitors. Aiming for <$300

Conclusion: I’ve decided to go with the Philips 275E1S since it’s a similar shape to my Dell, is cheap and should do plenty for what I need it for.

  • $300 total?

    It's difficult to find a 1080p monitor at $150 let alone 1440p

      Ah, should’ve clarified, <300 each, so <$600

      • Not a great price but there is this Philips 275E1S available at $249 everywhere.

That Philips is 27" ips 75hz QHD , but you can get 27" va 165hz QHD from Viewsonic for 30 bux more.

        • Refresh rate does not matter massively for me, and for secondary I’d still be running it at 75hz, as for IPS and VA there seems to be a mixed opinion for what’s better, but the most these monitors will have is videos/chats/files/etc. So I’d rather better colour, depends which of those two would do that better.
Brightness seems a weird thing as I use my dell at 60% (210 cd?) and it’s greatly brighter than 1050p monitor that says it uses 300, don’t get how that works

          • @Pugkin: I'm guessing that 2009 relic from pre-LED era, still using CCFL as backlight that losses brightness overtime.

        • Just looked at this further, if you’re referring to the VX2718-2KPC-MHD then the issue there is it’s curved, my main monitor is not so I’d get a weird C shaped setup

    • i would have thought pc hardwares / monitors go down in value over time but then i guess inflation took place.

i remember 5 years ago i had to choose between 27" ips QHD or 32" ips QHD with both at the same price bracket of $250s.

The Dell S2721DS seems to fit your requirement. I had just purchased this from Dell website for $297.14.

    Price $337.80

    Discount code (12% off) AUAFFILIATES12% ($40.66)

    Final price $297.14.

Just confirmed the code and pricing still valid, mocked it up before providing above.

This is also under $300 or can be claimed immediately come tax time.

    • It seems to only apply the discount once, so the total ends up being $635

Could you just make 2 orders with 2 different emails?

There's nothing stopping you from putting two orders in, each at $297.14 right?

    • Looked into this further, turns out dell is doing a promotion to get 15% off, so jumps down to 287.98 each in a single order, might go with that as my current monitor is the same

      • Have you pulled the trigger? As I might have another option depending where you are located.

        • yet to, SA

          • @Pugkin: I have 3 of these monitors on a sim racing rig. Been toying with the idea of upgrading to 32” monitors. I have all packaging still. I’m in Melbourne. Let me know if of interest and we can communicate. All still under warranty.

            • @Filbert: To clarify, I have S2721D

The included stand on the ‘D’ model is tilt only and ‘DS’ is fully adjustable – this is the only difference between the two.

      • I couldn't get the 15% off discount code to work. Only the one that Ongy mentions (12%) works for me.

    • Thanks for this suggestion! I'm in the market for a monitor as well. Great price.
