man are mobos are really expensive nowadays, can someone remind me if B450 mobos were this expensive when they first dropped?

    • The average price was definitely lower. Multiple factors contribute to the higher prices of AM5 boards. And yes, they aren't cheap.

  • I’m glad I didn’t wait for AM5 and went ahead to buy the AM4 with the Gigabyte Aorus AX at only $160 or so thanks to OzBargain. Can’t think of anything I’d miss from these expensive AM5 motherboards.

Maybe future upgrades? Its always nice to know that down the track you can drop in the latest CPU without having to go to the trouble of upgrading the board (and in this case the memory too..)

I'd wager that his build was built with years to last in mind, by that time AM5 would be cheaper.

Yeah that’s right. Paired with the 5900X and 64GB DDR4 CL16 RAM and coming from an Intel Ivy Bridge, I hope my new build will last for at least 5 years.

best bet is to skip a gen, especially the first gen on a new platform

  • Probably wouldn't spend this much on a Gigabyte board. My aurus b450 pro wifi had issues as soon as I updated to be compatible with Zen 2. I'm sure experiences vary but currently too much for the gamble.

  • Would never spend this much amount of money on a Gigabyte board. Their Bluetooth and Wifi stuffs keep dropping all days. Using a B550I Pro AX atm and its not cheap
