Stupid question, but is it just free to play for a limited time, or indefinitely?

    • +1

      Indefinite.

    • +1

Once you 'purchase' the weekly freebie, it's yours forever!

  • Cheers

Is Saints Row IV showing as unavailable after claiming it?

Edit: Is this still banned in Australia?

    • Must be ?
Same here, must be only the Aus Edit version permitted - since we arnt allowed to see drug taking

      • I have the low violence version on Steam. Wonder if we can get the other version, not that I really need it or anything.

      • +4

I can only imagine that seeing someone take drugs in a game would IMMEDIATELY make me take drugs. Just ALL of the drugs, ALL of the time.

        THANKS video games.

    • +1

      Yes it is. You're welcome.
Remember it's just the L4D2 back in the day, our pollies at work treating us like children.

Saints Row IV Is banned here. Your Epic Games will let you claim it but instead of "Install" it will be "Unavailable"

  • That sucks

  • +1

Using a VPN doesn't seem to work either

  • +2

lol waited all week for it and then find out its banned - annoying

    • I don't think it hurts to just claim it. They very well may add the Australian version to the launcher and we'll have access to that instead. Doesn't make sense for us to have to repurchase the game if we already have this version.

    • Waited all week then I forgot ahh

Here's my workaround for installing Saints Row IV in Australia. Either sign-out of Epic Games or use a different web browser, go to the Epic Store sign-up page and create a new account. In this new Epic account, use a different email address and make sure that you select "New Zealand" as the country.

After you have created this new second Epic (New Zealand) account, use it to sign into the Epic Launcher. Claim the game and install it. At the moment of writing, it is installing on my PC and I'd reckon it should launch and play fine.

    No VPN needed.

    • Just finished installing the game. Game launched fine with no issues and I played a bit of the game.

As much as I'd like to run around with the Alien Anal Probe weapon I try not to do anything that will give Epic/Steam/whoever the smallest opening to ban my accounts. I know the chances are very, very slim but I've got a lot of games on the platforms.

    • Does anyone know if https://www.epicgames.com/help/en-US/billing-support-c571936… works to change the region to allow us to play this?

  • +1

    Why is it banned?

    Australia imported some chinese democracy?

    • +3

Apparently, drug use and sexual references. New Zealand, for some reason, is not offended.

    • +3

"Saints Row IV, includes interactive, visual depictions of implied sexual violence which are not justified by context. In addition, the game includes elements of illicit or proscribed drug use related to incentives or rewards. Such depictions are prohibited by the computer games guidelines."

UPDATE: Saints Row developer Volition is making changes to the game's Australian version - namely, removing the "Alien Anal Probe" weapon which last month saw its release banned by the country's censors.

Whats australias issue with anal. They did the same to the south park game.

Seems not inclusive of those who enjoy it.

Is this a new version or something? I bought this game on PS4 a couple of years ago and able to play it. When did they banned the game? Was the PS4 version a different version?

  • +3

Install button appeared for me today, not unavailable anymore. May be the low violence version but cant see that written anywhere on the store page.

    • +1

yup same here finally able to install!

      • Window title bar says AU version

  • How did I managed to miss this week?! ;-( Hopefully they'll repeat these in future giveaways.
