Gigabyte X670 Gaming X AX AM5 ATX Motherboard - $479 + Delivery @ Umart

70

Not the best deal - it's a saving of $20, but the cheapest X670 board around at the moment that I could see, and, as we know, the board prices are currently what's holding AM5 back. But hey, 20 bucks is 20 bucks, right?

Good candidate if you picked up one of the Zen 4s in Black Friday and now need a board to run it.

  • The point of AM5 is its future proof. B650E and X670E make more sense as they have Pcie 5 slots for next GPU?

    • Whether it makes more sense depends on your use case. If you bought a Zen 4 to do number crunching, you probably don't care that much about the GPU to warrant worrying about PCI-E Gen 5

We only just started seeing a difference from pcie3 and pcie4 this gen. We won't hit pcie4 bottleneck for GPUs for a while. Wouldn't even have that as a factor for purchasing decision. Both have pcie5 for SSD.

thank you bit will stay away from motherboards from gigabyte. i own a gigabyte aorus master and the usb freeze issue is imminent no matter what bios u install.

I had B550 Aorus Master but never had that issue

I bought Gigabyte AM4 board when I built my 5950x rig. It was a bloody nightmare. I bought their top-of-the-line board, over $1000 worth because it had all the features I wanted. I remember thinking "Gigabyte is junk.. but surely their top tier hardware will be good", took a big fat L on that one. Ended up getting it refunded like 3 months later and bought MSI.

I got a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master and it's an absolute nightmare indeed. I don't have USB issues like the guy above but instead I just get an almost guaranteed BIOS reset every time there's a cold boot. The default fan profiles are garbage and you have to run some clunky as hell software to get a half decent fan curve.

I was a bit iffy on buying Gigabyte since the motherboard I had with my i7 4790K build was troublesome and I wish I had listened to my gut and gone with something else.

        • Have a x570 aorus pro and have the same problem with bios reset from a cold boot

          • @rehevoli: I spoke to a guy on IRC with the exact same issue and he reckons it was caused by having RAM that's not on the compatibility list. I checked and mine isn't so that might be worth looking into.

I have a B550 Aorus Pro V2, and I think the USB 2.0 ports keep resetting.

    • I have the same x570 aorus master rev 1.2 and don't have the USB issue so got lucky.
I would like the same quality-tech level of mobo in the x670e but haven't decided on which brand or mobo model to get this time around. Probably going to wait mid late next year.
What mobo are you going to get for next build after having a master.

I am leaning towards MSI or Asrock. Had an Asrock P67 Professional with Sandybrige and the quality was top notch cant say much now with the new boards .. no experience.

  • I've had a few gigabytes (mostly because they've generally been the 'cheapest' with the features I wanted) and they're alright. The more expensive X570 board I've had a couple of issues with (just around NVME dropping off), but the cheaper B450 boards I've had have been fine.

All brands have their lemons, unfortunately.

  • What's going on with gigabyte and there audio? or lack of it

  • even that saving of $20 , OP the board is just not worth the savings
