A Question about MyUS Referral Programme

I thought the free account will get the 20% off of first shipping? But their Whatsapp agent told me I must choose the paid 9.99USD/mo memberiship to be eligible. Could anyone elaborate a bit given that you used the referral link?

Thanks everyone in advance.

Update: I signed up with https://www.myus.com/welcome/mastercardpremium/ and got two years of premium membership for free. I'll keep my post updated if there is anything noticeable.

  • Clicking through the referral links, the only one that has the offer comes under the "Premium" pack (under that says "claim my offer")

    • So it must be a paid option to get the 20%off? After some calculation I doubt10 USD is worth it even with the 20% off and apparently they are doing:

Sign up for a FREE 3-month trial PLUS 15% off all shipments through 15 December

MyUS often have deals with Mastercard or Visa there you sign up and get 2 years premium membership for free and also 30% off for the first month of shipments.
Do a bit of hunting and you should find the deals.

You're probably better off using a freight forward that's in a sales tax free state. IIRC MyUS are in FL so you're paying 6% sales tax on whatever you buy by shipping to FL.

    • Interestingly, they claim that their warehouse in FL is tax free for some reason…

Easy enough to check, put something into a cart at a retailer and enter the MYUS address and see if it adds sales tax. I'm not 100% certain of the rate but I do believe it's around that mark.

I use MyUS and I can confirm anything goes to MyUS is tax free. Their postcode is an exception for export purpose I believe. You can try add to cart and enter in MyUS address you will see it should be free. It could be a chance they it's not, depend ont he retailer. Walmart, Amazon and ebay is no tax for MyUS. Ebay used to be charging sales tax previously but the last one year they don't.

          • @foxmulder: Hey mate, just wonder if you paid insurance every time?

@Freddies: Initially I do as I used to use DHL with MyMallBox then when I use MyUS they cheapest decent one they have is Fedex Economy. But they turn out to be quiet reliable, thus I don't insure anymore.

So far I only claimed once during insurance period, and it was quiet easy. If you insured, make sure when you receive the box, you take picture first of the box and another clearer pic part of it if there is something wrong with the box, then another of the box content.

              • @foxmulder: Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I guess I'll leave it unchecked then since MyUS is not using any shady courier as people witnessed.

                • @Freddies: They do have the cheapest option, which I don't use due to the volume I do with them, thus most of the time Fedex Economy is the option for me - those people may have experience with the cheapest option.

                  • @foxmulder: Did you manually selecte Fedex? I read some comments on Whirlpool and users there claimed AU post being cheapest (also slowest).

                    • @Freddies: Shipping carrier of choice is set in settings - I choose Fedex Economy as from time to time I check it's always the cheapest and fast. If you need to know, I usually do only around 80+ pounds with 90 pounds as the cheapest ever rate MyUS do (per pound rate) - weird as I wish they get cheaper above 90 - but it's actually getting more expensive. Thus if you enter in this amount you will see Auspost is just not there.

                      • @foxmulder: 36+kg? I've never bought anything that heavy. Last time I tried hopshopgo and the overall cost of 3.5kg clothes was $115(USD)
But I guess I can still follow your instructions and manually compare all prices then

        • I Googled "FL 34249 tax" and the result says it's tax free.
