they got the 'wilted in the australian summer' look just right…

    • +6

Go easy on them, they got burnt in the 2019-2020 bushfires and are now in their regeneration phase.

    • +5

I had a VERY similar reaction. I think I created a scale version of this tree, when I was in kindergarten, using green pipecleaners.

Edit: OMG! There's a bloody instructables for it.

Try the Big W Anko Christmas Tree instead…

It's better quality than the Kmart one.

      • +2

        Anko isn't a Big W brand, it's a Kmart exclusive brand…?

EDIT: Har har, your bolding finally makes sense lol

      • +1

        This one?
Will look great in the lounge room I can imagine. And all that on special too!

  • +58

Thats a really shitty looking christmas tree.

    • +3

you can afford bulk decorations if the tree's only $10 to hide the fact the tree's only $10

    • -1

Buy this tree if they are on the naughty list.

    • +2

Its probably easy to decorate. I have a 7 and a half foot tree that takes two-three hours to setup and i hate putting it up and putting it away

    • yeah but its 10 dollars!

      haha

    • +1

I hope that anyone who buys this, does so with the knowledge that the plastic used to manufacture it will most likely outlive their children.

I stupidly bought a similar one ten years ago, and now I’m stuck with it for the rest of my life - or at least until someone figures out how to recycle shit like this.

      • +1

So you're saying it will become an heirloom passed down from generation to generation? Even better bargain than originally thought.

    • +1

I'd rather not have a tree than this dire excuse of a Christmas Tree :/

  • +19

    That's just depressing

    • +9

      It’s described as stunning 😳

      • +22

        Consider me stunned lol

      • lollllllll :)

      • +3

If 86cm girth doesn’t stun you, nothing will..!

      • +3

        Stunningly shite.

  • +3

    • -1

So a parent on a budget isn't allowed to buy a cheap tree for their kids who wouldn't really notice the difference?

  • +3

I feel like buying them all and burning them, just to save any aussie kids from the heartache of seeing this sad and depressing looking 'tree' on what should be an incredibly joyful day.
But, I'm flat broke thanks to buying so much useless crap from OzBargain so guess I'll just be buying one for my own kids instead.

  • +2

I've got weeds in my garden that are more impressive than that.

  • +1

    there’s also a smaller $4 one lol

  • +1

tempted to get this tree, its only $10 but i don't want my family and friends laughing at me

    • You can laugh at them for spending $50+ on a fake tree, but yeah you deserve to be bullied if you this tree

  • +1

I bought this ALDI one couple of weeks ago after looking at few others. It's not bad for the price. Comes up pretty close to it's advertised photo. Weighted about 8.5KG, metal stand and hinged big branches.

    https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-wed-2-n…

    • Thanks for the recommendation. Found it at Glenelg Aldi, reduced to $49.95.
They have 1 more 6ft tree and 2 x 7ft ones with the inbuilt lights for $139.95.

  • +4

Girls: wow that tree is ugly, but… it's 6ft??!

  • Columbia is going to be angry..

  • which comes with a sturdy plastic stand.

Well thank goodness for that! Had me worried for a second.

    • +2

Yeah, I'd hate for it to fall into the dumpster…

  • +3

Spam roast for Xmas lunch with that? 😂

  • Sad skinny with not many leaves tree. Depressing.

  • i thought the last image was a cigarette, so you burn down that tree. my mistake.

  • +1

    What is that 😳

  • Inflation hit hard on the branches.

  • +1

    ”stunning Christmas tree” yeah no.
That is one pitiful looking Christmas tree.
Looks like the tree is always $10 - what’s the bargain here?

  • +2

    Worth it!

    https://youtu.be/2hIHeq_jk6w

You Can get the lights from aldi for $15. Only uses 6w

  • Still have it from last year up in my living room =.=

  • I can't be the only one who thought of this

  • +1

This tree represents affordability during inflation.

  • +1

This tree just checked out of Rehab or something

  • +1

I got the $11.20 Reject Shop one with 325 tips. Not too bad once the lights and decorations were added. https://www.rejectshop.com.au/p/green-tree-180cm-325-tips

    • That one definitely looks better for only $1.20 more. You can actually cover the gaps.

  • +2

The saddest looking tree I've ever seen. Wow. I think I'd rather go without.

  • Finally a tree that fits my budget. Bought 2.

    • +3

If you combine them, you may have a half decent looking tree.

  • Wow, that's a poor mans Christmas tree.

  • +1

Are branches and pine needles sold as extras?

  • +6

In the bin two days after Christmas…..made from Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polypropylene (PP). Will spend the next thousand years in land fill.

People need to stop buying poor quality crap and factories need to stop producing shit products. If you can't afford a Christmas tree, decorate a living tree outside, or get a used one from some marketplace.

Australia doesn't need this crap, I'm looking at you Kmart (edit: and you too Kogan)

    • A man after my own heart! 👏🏽

    • Who bins their fake tree after every Christmas? It's meant to be stores in the shed/closet for next year.

  • Anyone recommend a decent looking tree? Love the Costco trees but 800 is a bit steep. Something a notch down.

    • Balsam Hill has the most gorgeous Christmas trees. You will pay a fair bit, but they are worth it for their quality and realism.

I’d rather buy an expensive Christmas tree that lasts a decade and actually makes me feel like Christmas, than drag home some cheap crap just for the sake of putting up a tree.

Christmas comes around once a year - if I’m doing it, I’m doing it fabulously. 😎

More practically, long-lasting Christmas trees will save you money, and save the environment, in the long run.

  • +1

I have this tree. We just set it up for it's 2nd xmas.
We also bought $10 worth of target baubles, and $15 fairy lights.

Actually looks great as long as you are more than a metre away. Certainly better than nothing, and a full set up for $35.

    I don't know if this is a deal though…? It's just a cheap product.

  • -1

Looks like it has late term cancer.

  • +3

If this is your christmas tree, do you even have presents to put under it?

  • if you're considering this…. you might be better off doing the costanza festivus instead. Then all you need is a pole

  • +4

The trees in Chernobyl look better than this

  • I am scratching my head at those who gave this a +

  • how about pay $20 to buy two for 2x 239 branch tips?
Would it look better? $20 would still be a bargain !

  • +1

    Isn't this just normal price?

  • do what they do in queensland cut down a pine tree at the side of the road lol.

  • kmart clearing their hard rubbish

  • +2

If kate moss were a Christmas tree

  • I don't even celebrate Christmas and I feel depressed after seeing this tree. It needs saving rather celebrating. So scrawny.

  • what a sad pitiful thing.
