Kingston and OCZ are also some other good options.
I read OCZ cheapys like $100ish for 120GB are no good?
Is this Crucial one I listed STAT3? Also with the data transfer kit, will this mean I can just transfer my wntire current HD to the SSD without installing everything again?
Also will the SSD be a big difference over the normal one?
I recently got a new setup, with an OCZ Agility, haven't had any problems. There seem to be plenty of anecdotes, but it's hard to get numbers on how many people have had issues.
Important to bear in mind: I ordered the bits, had the company I was buying from put them together. They set the drive defaults poorly (i.e. not how I would have chosen to place them), and changing them can be quite a hassle in Windows 7.
Obviously you'll want your boot disc and swap file on the SSD, but you may not want your libraries there because you won't necessarily get the same performance gains as from installing games on it.
What I was going to do was get a Transfer Cable and just copy the current HD to the SSD and then put the SSD in and thats it rather then do a install, updates etc etc again.
Shoing the 2 drives I posted above the the first post.
the Crucial speeds -
•Micron MLC NAND
•6Gbps SATA interface
•Up to 415Mbps read speed
•Up to 175Mbps write speed
•Limited 3 year warranty
and the Kingmax speed -
Interface SATA III 6Gb/s
Support Global wear-leveling
NCQ/Trim
55bit BCH ECC
IOPS (Random read and write Read : Up to 60K
Write : Up to 30K
Sequential Read and write Read : Up to 550 MB/s Write : Up to 520 MB/s
MTBF 1.2 million Hours
Operating Temperature 0~70 degrees
Seems to me the Kingmax is faster?
Are they both Sata 3?
Are you imaging the hard disk or copying it straight to a blank disk ?
6gb indicates sata 3
the Crucial comes with a Data transfer kit so it clones the Hard Drive
Oh thats lucky :), just be aware cloning doesnt work very well when going from larger size to smaller size
my current drive is 160gb and this Crucial is 128GB.
I think I only have 100GB used on the current 160GB hard drive and most are movies which will get moved to a External Hard Drive.
I am not sure about the crucial software but its not easy if you only have 1 partition and its the whole drive , it may not work.
You may be better off using something like ghost, if the crucial software causes a problem.

I dont have any partitions on the laptop I don't think. Just have c:\ drive
Then have a read of the link and check out what people are recommending ;)
thanks
Ozgameshop.com isn't based in Australia so you'll need to return it to the UK for any warranty.
You can also buy an external hdd case and use your current drive in that. Means you don't need the transfer cable kit as well.
I'd go with crucial. I haven't heard great things about kingmax SSD performance
