AC Split Reverse Cycle Brands - Hyundai or Rinnai

Folks, I have 2 great prices to buy AC from but I'm in doubt between 2 brands. Which one would you recommend? Hyunday or Rinnai?

I'm looking at:

    Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Mitsubishi not as good

      • Have had nothing but problems with 3 x MHI units I had installed…. I would avoid.
Panasonic or Mitsubishi Electric seem to have good reviews

        • I wonder what's happened to MHI quality. Interesting

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries or Daiken …

    • ^^^^^what he said^^^^^

My ex-employer that I managed the maintenance schedule for had dozens of air-conditioned buildings. MHI or Daikin were most reliable

    • Just be careful with Daiken, they have introduced a cheap line of a/c's that are nowhere near as reliable as their top lines ;)

I reset my password to tell you don't skimp on AC.

Buy a Daiken or a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries

In my experience Mitsubishi (Heavy Industries or Electric) or Panasonic. As above Daikin is also good.

When I was doing my research (years ago) Fujitsu was one to avoid, something about PCBs not being coated so later down the line you would run into issues.

Yeah any of those four brands are good. In my last job I looked after facilities with many splits across those brands and had no dramas.

I'd recommend finding a good local installer and just going with whichever of those brands they supply and install.

  • Mitsubishi Heavy industries or Daikin as everyone above has mentioned.

If you really want to go with one of the two brands mentioned in the OP then go with Rinnai.
This Hyundai has nothing to do with the other Hyundai (Hyundai Automobiles) that comes to mind. It is just badge engineering by Kogan - They obtained the rights to use the name and slap it on cheap Chinese split systems.

  • I have no suggestions at the price point you're targeting. Forfeiting too much in terms of build quality/reliability.

Try to find the extra pesos to spring for a Daikin or Toshiba.

Panasonic. Also, whatever you do, don't buy an AC from kogan.s or anything else for that matter.

As per what others have said… I also reset my password to tell you - don't go cheap, go Daikin or MHI (not mitsubishi electric) - these are the only brands we use for the fleet of ~5000 A/C units we maintain in Far North WA, the reliability and performance of other brands isn't close.

  • My split system was built in Japan over 30 years ago and moved 3 times.
    Still goes like a charm!

  • I ended up getting a Hisense 5kw one for just over a grand as the cooling had 4 stars and also a 5 year warranty so Yolo

  • Panasonic ir daikin.

    Not anything from Kogan.

  • Hi folks thanks for all the input, just closing the loop i ended up getting a TOSHIBA with 7yr warranty. https://www.dicksmith.com.au/da/buy/toshiba-60kw-reverse-cyc…
