Framing for university degrees

Hey OzBargainers,

I need your help. My wife and I both got our uni degrees a couple of years ago, however have neglected to frame them yet. I've heard that if you leave them in plastic too long they can go bad.

Does anyone know anywhere in Melbourne that does good quality and reasonably priced framing?

Thanks!

  • Perhaps you can just get a cheap A4 frame and DIY?

    • University degrees scroll thingoes are not A4 sized….at least mine isn't.

  • I got this one for mine http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Fra… $6 at OW and BigW too from memory. The frames plastic, but it doesnt look cheap or tacky. Simples best imo.

    • It's the wrong size. They're an odd size which is annoying.

      • What size are your certificates? I thought most Uni ones would be A3!

        • They make them an odd size to discourage forgeries/make you pay more.

  • Hmm, I didn't realise they went bad in the plastic. All of mine and my wife's are still in their plastic. Do you know what exactly happens? I looked at getting ours framed but it was going to cost a lot as none of them are standard size (e.g. A4, A3).

  • I've kept mine in plastic in a frame.

    • And it's crooked!

      • (The frame, not the degree).

  • It is easy to do yourself even if it isn't a standard frame.

All you need to a frame bigger than the degree, then just get some card and cut it so size as a border. All you need to do then it chuck them in the frame presto you are done.

  • mine has been rolled up in the plastic pocket for the last 12 years. - no problem with it.

second degree arrived on monday :)

but anyway, look for discount framing shops. they can cut the cardboard inset to size.

  • If you looking for something a bit better quality, I just framed a couple of drawings, found online to be a lot cheaper than my local picture framing shops
