Interstate Removal Recommendations (NSW to SA)

I'm after recommendations for good Interstate removalist from NSW to SA.

I have checked with following Grace (expensive), Kent (extremely expensive but SLOW) then check the Muval (they just create a list and let others bid for the job) and their choices are - Six Brothers, but reddit review says avoid.

Anyone got any other recommendation?

A do it yourself option where you pack and unpack the container yourself and they ship it.

I did this last year and was very pleased with the outcome. As I took care packing my own stuff, not a single broken item. For me it ended up being a lot cheaper than traditional removalists.

How much stuff are you talking about?

    Also define expensive

    • Also define slow

    • 3bd room house worth of stuff goods, with do it your self packing.
Grace $10K, Kent (they use railway network) $15k, Muval 5K

      • I've used backloads a few times without issue. It's been a few years since I last used them but they were a fair bit cheaper than the other options available at the time. Cost me $750 to move a bedroom plus study worth of stuff from QLD to VIC back in '17. Worth giving the online quote tool on their site a go.

        • Lol, only if you can go back in time, last move within the state cost me $600,
Based on the three quotation, I think expected price be around $10k, I just need to find a reliable/value for money one.

  • I moved interstate via a 20ft shipping container bought outright, and the freight logistics were an additional prepaid option - just needed to confirm pickup date once I'd finished packing.

Worked out about $3800 for the container then $4k for about 1500km via rail & tilt-tray on each end. Sold the container recently for the same price, so I was net $4k for the full relocation, which was pretty good given we squeezed 4br's of stuff into one well-Tetrised container. Zero breakages.

By comparison, hiring from the same company with a 30-day window would have been about $6k so not only did I save cash, I could have the container onsite at both houses for longer and take my time packing exactly how I wanted. I even had a Sketchup 3D model to optimise the best layouts for all the furniture and boxes!

  • What have you found far kid?

  • I'm looking to move from SA to Perth in the next year or so but it seems like the best option is to sell everything and buy it again instead of transporting….. Better than spending 10 grand trying to move stuff that's worth about 10 grand or so.

Is there no way you can hire a truck from a company like Budget or something and pay an interstate fee? I haven't had any luck so far quoting anywhere online, cheapest I've found is like 8kfor 2-3br.
