Refurb Laptop for Oldies about $400- $500

Hi,

With black friday coming up, I thought it would be the appropriate time to update a dying laptop for my old folks. I have been looking around on ebay as there is a 20% refurb laptop cashback on shopback + some are already discounted with Blackfriday on ebay but I have no idea how to chose a laptop.

I have found this offer that I might get as it looks decent with a i5, 8gb of ram (probably can put more) and a small ssd.

The uses sould be some chrome (i know) browsing, watching streaming and the occasional emails

Thanks for the help!

Suggest a Dell Latitude 7390 (probably a 7490 if you want a touch screen)

At the very least this is significantly better than the one you linked. 8th gen gets official Win11 support and doubles the core count on midrange (4 vs 2 on 7th gen).

This is the one I linked but I got a warning so my comments were removed

You can get brand new i5 laptops in the $500 range.
The build quality isn't going to be as good as a business grade unit, but your parents may not need the hardiest device if it's just going to sit on a desk for 99% of its life.

Especially with Windows 11 requirements (yes you can currently hack around them) and Windows 10 EOL well within the planned lifetime of such an investment.
