i've had a quick search and didn't find an explanation as to why users can't edit/delete their own comments on bargain posts?

i already know this. i want to know why editing isn't always an option and why the delete button is only for mods.
if you allow unlimited editing/deleting, threads can become untidy, as replies to edits will generally make no sense. Similarly replies to deleted posts also will make no sense.

cos that's how it is……
You can edit your comment for a short amount of time but not after someone has replied to it. You can't delete your comment as it breaks conversation/threads if the first comment is deleted.
