Smack the like button like how your parents smack you!

    • why people neg this? do they know it's a joke line from uncle roger?

    • +1

Not sure why you are getting negged for this? Did people get their money back? Or is it something else?

      • +4

This deal is about Uber. Nothing to do with Deliveroo

        • +1

Nope the deal is about shopback and uber. It's purchased through shopback ap, just like the previous deliveroo vouchers.

      • +2

Not sure either, I lost a lot. No money back. To their credit they are working on a solution but won’t use them until they do.

        • +1

I read that Menulog was honouring Deliveroo vouchers?

          • @HelpMeiCantSee: Some people bought a few hundred dollars worth of deliveroo gift cards but Menulog only honor up to $75.

      • 'Not sure'? What does Uber have to do with Deliveroo?

        • Shopback ap is the deal provider here.

    • +6

Yeah, it's all Shopback's fault even though they found out about the shutdown at the exact same time everyone else did…. 🤦‍♂️

      • +1

If Menulog have been able to create a scheme to provide people with a portion of credit use and to be worthwhile by driving new customer growth etc, then shopback can try thinking outside the box for something to build back some consumer confidence. It'd be for their benefit too.

    • +1

Wait, I still don't understand why your experience with Deliveroo is influencing your decision on voting positions on this? It's not a deliveroo deal as others have pointed out but you didn't explain

      • +2

There was a big Shopback deal on deliveroo vouchers a few days ago. This is another Shopback deal. Rightly or wrongly, that's the connection people are referring to here.

    • Don’t think Uber is going into administration any time soon

  • You know you mean nothing to the friend that gives you an uber gift card.

    • +7

I only value friends that give me Deliveroo gift cards.

  • Works for door dash and binge.

    Also hungry panda.

  • Does anyone know if this only works for 1 uber card per account. I got 1already but it still showing me 15% cashback if i add another card. Just not sure if it willbe honoured

    • +1

There doesn't appear to be a limit, so go crazy!

      • Thanks. I am using my coles prepaid mastercard gift card and will be travelling soon so will definitely be using these up in a month or 2

    • No limit it appears, I've got 3 so far

  • Uber and DiDi used to cost sinilar. Lately uber has been 20% more expensive tho it seems?

    • +3

Last 4-5 times, Didi was showing multiple riders in the neighbourhood, but never got me a rider.
Or they accepted and cancelled a few minutes later.
Got sick of it and changed to uber to get one in a minute to accept.
Only had one uber cancel the ride after a few minutes, but then another driver accepted.
I also saw the price difference, but it's useless if you can't rely on it at all.

      • Had 5 cancellations on uber last night. Learnt that after 3 you have to resubmit the booking.

        • I'm definitely not praising uber. But I can say the last 4 times I tried to get Didi I gave up after 15-20 minutes.
I couldn't risk not getting to the airport.
And by trying Didi at the airport itself, it cost me more via uber later because the uber prices even increased further because it was busy.

I saw an uber driver operate last time, and he opened the Didi app while we were still driving towards drop off. They probably accept a ride via Didi, then after dropping you off if they get more via uber they just cancel the Didi …

    • Agreed

  • Does anyone know how this credit works if you are using Uber in a different country?

Always just used an international credit card in the past.

    • it didnt work

    • +1

Au under gift cards only works in au so you cant used it overseas

    • Thanks, I'll just get enough for local use.

FYI $100 gift cards are now out of stock.

  • +4

I got burned $300 for deliveroo. I'm tempted but scared it would not end well again

    • +3

Don’t do it until ShopBack gives confidence that you won’t be burnt again.

      • +11

        They've also been burnt.

The blame for this lies with Deliveroo. Gift cards all come with the risk of a retailer closing. Money is where it is at if you're worried. Obviously money isn't immune from issues as seen in countries with hyper inflation.

It's much less likely that Uber will close Australian operations.

    • +4

You can hedge your bets and buy 1 Uber and 1 Doordash.

    • +2

Got an email from ShopBack that they r working with Administrators & Deliveroo to check remaining credit on cards to refund which will take sometime and hold on to chargebacks to avoid complications, seems positive but not 100% until it comes

    • Didn't someone say they can charge back?

    • +1

Uber has a market cap of $60bn. Sure they could do a Deliveroo and close the Australian entity but it would be madness as they have the dominant position in both ride share and food delivery in this country (maybe not on ozbargain because we know their prices are inflated, but in the general public they are #1).

Theyre not going anywhere, load up.

      • OK thanks. Made the plunge, hopefully goes OK this time.

  • So what you’re saying is Uber is going to fall shortly?

    • +1

Yep, a increased cashback on giftcards through Shopback is a sign that a business is about to close Australian operations.

      • Seems like it… I always thought I’d get to use Uber one day. oh well.

      • Ubereats might but you can still use it for Uber so there's a safety net.

      • That happened one time.

        • One time so far.

I doubt there is any risk buying Uber gift cards. Outside of the majors, I generally buy gift cards with the aim of using them fairly soon after purchase. I was burnt by Deliveroo, but it is unlikely to have any impact on my gift card purchasing patterns.

  • Great deal on Uber eats GCs but just hope they don’t hack up prices. Here is hoping that menulog don’t become the next Ansett (cue “are you old enough to remember Ansett Australia?”).

    • +1

Have you looked at Uber Eats prices? They're already fully jacked, don't think they can go higher.

  • 15% off binge as well, is that about as cheap as they get?

    • 15% discount is available always from Costco

  • +2

While the price is a bit ripoff
Uber eats is still the most stable food delivery service imo
Seldom have issues for late delivery, and many more times got delivered ahead of schedule

  • +3

not lazy enough to use ubereats :/

  • +1

Shopback no longer accepts visa giftcards lol, they're onto me

    • so i should assume the coles MC GC is on the way out too?

      • Sadly I'd assume so

        • are you getting the card cannot be verified error?

          • @razorite: Was previously, now getting an error that the card can't be used & to try another

            • @Dyl: i ran into a few errors adding my MC GCs a couple hours ago and everytime i got an error i just re entered ccv and re hit add button until it went through. just fyi

  • How does the gift cards work. Do you buy them via shopback then enter them into the uber app like the woolies /Coles bought uber gift cards and they just load credit?

    • Pretty much yes just redeem in the app

      • ok sweet. probably buy one or two but won't go overboard given the last time i did the coles/woolies ones i sat on credit for awhile, and with alll the stuff that's goingg on now.. who knows haha. not worth the risk stashing your cash in their app with too much in there.

  • Finished?

    • looks like it. didn't realise giftt cards can run out haha.

  • Uber, Doordash OOS - the others are still available with a countdown of ~6d 4h for the 15%

  • -3

This is so dodgy. The uber 15% is still being promoted on the site, and you CAN still buy uber/eats cards but they’re paying at 2%.
