There is more here https://www.google.com/search?q=FHD%2B+vs+OLED+VS+UHD
That’s why I’m posting and see who got one or two lol
@FB00037887: Well I had the same query, unless you are a photographer or loaded with $$, you don't really need it.
WC link pretty much cover the difference.
Plus most of the time I connect my laptop to a monitor :)And look at the power draw difference, it be fine if you always connect to main.
@boomramada: So which one did u get ?
@FB00037887: FHD+
You can't upgrade a laptop screen later - get the best one available.
It'll be much more useable in 5 year's time
5y time you buy a new one :)
Yes you can. Dell is one of those brands where there is a flood of parts for you to mod with.
You want to find me a 4k or OLED display for a 2017 model XPS laptop? That's cheaper than just buying a whole new replacement?? Fat chance.
If this was a Framework laptop, sure, but 'flood of parts' is misleading at best.
That's not what you said. You said you can't upgrade.
But I'll play along with you, I just looked up OLED panels for my XPS on Aliexpress, it's only $400 which is what it would've cost me to upgrade my XPS from factory anyway. If I was patient there's probably someones busted laptop for a lot less that I could salvage if I wanted it.
@plmko: So conclusion OLED3.5K or UHD+4K lol?
the difference only $100
Oled will look fantastic but has drawbacks of screen burn in. You have to take extra precautions (for example hiding the Windows taskbar) to avoid it.
so UHD+4K dont have the issue?
It’s a drawback of OLED. If the 4K panel is also OLED then it can suffer burn in. If it’s IPS then it won’t
I dont think the 4K is OLED
If you're doing lots of office work or sit in dim lit rooms don't get the OLED. Get it if the laptop is mostly for multimedia. Upgrade to extended warranty as well.
If you value battery life don't get the 4K. Get it if the laptop is mostly stationary and you do a mix of office work and multimedia.
Get the FHD if the laptop is mostly for portable and office work.
I think I only considering OLED3.5K or FHD4K coz I want the touch screen but hard to decide which one to go for
I would go OLED, I always do when it's an option
I have 4k XPS and love it but tend to use in bed allot with face very close to screen. I bought for touchscreen still gets very good battery life
I also have older XPS that suffered the dreaded charging problems with 4k screen for sale. It has motherboard problems now and is junk but the 4k screen is for sale
