It's a subgenre on its own. Would recommend getting the demo and watch a few YouTube videos on how to play. Gaijinhunter or Arekkz gaming are good channels to introduce weapons combo.
For me, it clicked once my friend showed me how to play. It's not a hack and slash game and battles are long. While you have 50 mins to battle, you should aim for 8-15 mins per monster

No problem and good luck. There are like 12 weapons to choose from and they all play pretty differently. Given that the game has very high emphasis on positioning and timing, finding a weapon that fits you is vital.
The series is very well known to be bad at tutorials. Hope you find your weapon(s)
