Wow a great new way to counteract these guys in a fun way and they hung up first. I am still laughing…
I think he used it as a pseudonym.
I received one or two of these calls a while back — on my mobile phone. I was immediately annoyed and asked how they knew my number. Guy just mumbled something and when I asked to clarify I got hung up on :S
I think so too, just hoping.
Carefully and silently put the handset alongside the phone,[do not hang up] say nothing and walk out of room.
They will be talking to themselves!

No, you tell them that they'll need to talk with the wife/husband. That way they expect a bit of a wait.
Or alternatively, keep a whistle by the phone. I got one after the 21st or 22nd call from "Microsoft".
A third option is to chat about how you could have a "Microsoft" virus on your Mac (again, this is a targeted response).
Give the phone to your little kid, toddler or pet dog.
Or even better, tell them they've reached a phone sex hotline and see how they respond :)
