I think you're right, part 2 was not great. It was very good though. I won't spoil it by saying why I didn't think it was great, but I enjoyed it a lot all the same. Worth $12 easily.

Its rare to get a response from avid defenders of part 2. Not even when they white washed Abby's Dad - Bruce the Surgeon from TLOU and TLOU remastered.
Graphically TLOU and TLOU1 remake do look stunning though, even for old hardware.
I thought the first game sucked and expected to dislike this one just as much but it kinda blew me away, definitely one of the best games I've played. A no brainer at this price. PS5 has a full 60fps patch which performs flawlessly (for that handful of people who've been able to buy one)
I agree, I wasn't blown away by Part I, found it a bit boring in the beginning, and it improved as the game progressed. By the end of the Part I, I definitely liked it. But Part II took it to a whole other level.
Honestly PS5s arent that hard to get anymore but you probably need to be willing to pay for an overinflated bundle.
Could not finish part 1, finished part 2 and it was amazing. People you hate at the start seem more likable in the end, awesome.
I really thought the Pt 1 remake would make the gameplay akin to Part 2, which IMO was leaps and bounds better than the original. but nah, they just resold us the same game for the third time. tbf though the facial animations on Pt 1 are AMAZING and God of War looks incredibly stiff and weird now by comparison

I dunno, it was a lot of small things. Like the way the game breaks if you try to go off script, the level design where you can always tell when you've entered a combat arena because suddenly there's waist-high walls everywhere, the way Ellie is invisible to enemies until they've seen Joel, those immersion-breaking moments where the characters start yelling at each other while they're trying to creep through a supermarket packed with zombies that hunt based on sound. Plus it was just a bland shooter by TPS standards. 2 wasn't perfect but it had the best TPS gameplay I've come across. I also found the story in 2 to be a lot more interesting. Bear in mind I played through them eight years apart so it could just be my tastes have changed. I'm looking forward to playing the rerelease Part 1 sometime but I'm waiting a few years so I can justify playing through 2 again.

Exactly. I preordered the digital version then read lots of reviews and comments about how bad the story or characters are and didn't really play it until like 6 months later. And, wow, it was just absolutely amazing.
if the story didn't get leaked (albeit an incorrect version of it) i fully believe there wouldnt even be a community of people who hate this game. by literally any measure of grading video games, it is a fantastic game. the reception was only soured because millions of people were REEEEEing before release about how big trans lady too evil

Based on Naughty Dog's track record, it's best to assume No. There is a 60fps patch, but with Factions to be released, Sony / Naughty Dog will milk players for the PS5 version.

Did some googling, looks like it's a free update on ps5 from PS4 version. 4k/60fps patch.
There's no TLoU2 ps5 version, but when playing PS4 game , it runs at above frame rate and resolution
My impression it is a PS4 pro update version, there is no Ps5 upgrade version. but the visual is very very good. same as the story.
Loved this game so much more than part 1… so many scenes still come to mind even today. Absolute steal.

The only time this is a good deal is when they literally pay me to play this game. Some of the decisions they made around some of my favorite characters was too much to bear.

Played it through twice and it is fantastic. Testament to the game as there were some scenes which stuck in my mind months after I finished playing.

Have played through 3 times now, great game, and $12 is a no brianer. Having recently replayed Part 1, 2 is definitely a more compelling narrative.
