Hello everyone, I have nearly 250 domains that I want to renew. Could you please guide me in finding the best registrar? Thank you as always.
Note: I can see Porkbun is the cheapest, currently I am with Namecheap and their renewal is two expensive, and support is meh!
Best Domain Renewal Registrar for Bulk Domain Renewal (More than 200) !
Comments
I want to open a digital agency ( if I could, side hobby), have been renewing those domains for 2 years haha, paid more than 7K for a hobby!
Expensive hobby but have you manage to sell one for like $7k yet ? π
haha, not really, not a single cent, one day If I can have enough motivation someday, will have a small team and a digital agency, or may be I am just daydreaming!
@MrPresident: so you have 250 domain names, with zero customer base or actual use for those domain names currently?
thats a hell of a hobby :)
@SBOB: Yes! Nearly spent 7K to renew them and to buy, another 3K this month. Total 10K by end of 2022.
I really believe I can use some of them and sell some then I get lazy, and busy with a hospital job. If you guys have any ideas, suggestions, I would really appreciate it.@MrPresident: unless you're camping on some pretty prime .com domain names, Im unsure how they would be that valuable (and if you were, you'd already likley get email offers to buy them regularly anyway)
with the increasing number of TLDs around, would seem like a diminishing pool of potential profit.
Got a random example of a domain name thats hobby worthy?
@SBOB: I agree, many new TLDs nowadays. Could you guide me where are some of the places to sell these domains? Thank you.
I paid nearly 3K for erex.com, 2 years ago@MrPresident: well should be able to make some decent $ on a 4 letter .com domain.
Even places like godaddy (the worst of all domain name registrars) has estimated valuation forms and ways you can advertise a domain name for sale
@SBOB: I have high hope for a few 4 letter.com domains.
@MrPresident: Here I am with a 3 letter.com.au getting emails every other month offering to buy it when I don't want to sell lol.
@Typical16-bitEnjoyer: When the right price comes you'll know it. Some people pay insane amounts for the right domain. A Wordpress page builder owner claims he recently paid $47,000 US for breakdance.com.
@Typical16-bitEnjoyer: Thatβs great news, hope you get a good deal π
@MrPresident: Sedo.com is a popular domain marketplace.
@MrPresident: Well sell one, then you can claim it on tax for others :)
@boomramada: How that works?
Well sell one, then you can claim it on tax for others :)
Sorry I can't edit it, but what I mean to say, if you buy and sell them, the cost of registration will be tax deduction.
Find an accountant. lol
Well if you use it as digital agency and sell to make profit, your expenses in your business would be cost of registration ;)
then your capital gain would be, purchased price - selling price (that's where you going to get whooped lol)So if you park it for longer (more than a year), you probably get a discount on a capital gain too? lol
@boomramada: I will, I had a look but can't get a clear picture, will organize an appointment with an accountant.
@boomramada: Will it apply if I register a business now and have been paying for those domains for a few years, or does it start when you start an agency?
@MrPresident: I'm not an accountant, in my understanding, think it as buying and selling houses or crypto, just need good account keeping, no need to be a registered as a business.
Before the meeting, check with them to see if they have some idea on digital assets.
VentraIP is currently giving, or offering very cheap domain registrations.
I registered a .co for nix and then saw renewal after 1 year free is $42 so I'll not use it and just let it expire, unless you want it.
Cloudfare looks good for my .com renewal at ~$9 against VentraIP's ~ $22
Web hosting all went up so a search for that next year is on the cards.
Thank you Bybroid, I will have a look and may be transferring all of them in a few days. Just Namecheap auto-renewed 14 of them @ USD $15 each! Customer service is crap.
Yeah namecheaps prices are getting insane. Their email forwarding is handy, but cloud flare added that last year from the looks of it. I have a bit over 100 with Namecheap and am thinking of moving them just to save a few bucks too. But what a hassle it is to transfer them all, will want to make sure they are transferred to somewhere worth keeping.
You can transfer up-to 50 at a time I guess.
Can you provide an example of one of your prized domain names?
erex.com
Google has that cached as "Erex - Embrace sexual wellness: Home" haha
π
sounds like the perfect URL for a viagra competitor…
@SBOB: It does, thats why I paid 3k almost 3 years agoπ
My recommendation is Porkbun as someone that has a large portfolio of domain names for personal use and tracks the industry while they're not the cheapest on every extension if you average it out across your portfolio it's the best solution.
When it comes to .au domains Synergy Wholesale or clickhost if you don't want to pay for a wholesale account. Pricing is the same anyway.
Cloudflare Registrar, While they give you access to wholesale pricing you are required to use their DNS service at all times and comes with no support other than for the registration itself so if you're not experienced with managing your own DNS zone and the like it's not exactly the best solution.
Personally I don't like the restriction of requiring the use of their name servers and DNS product so I pay porkbun and the extra dollar on average, to avoid being required to always use Cloudflare's DNS.
Don't get me wrong I love Cloudflare I use it for pretty much everything but I like the flexibility to be able to change the name servers when necessary.
I could let you know my rates aswell as cloudflare and godaddy rates. my .com.au has good rates
How much do you pay?
Cloudflare Registrar is the best priced one with no-markup pricing. You only pay what the ICANN fees are, plus get access to their great features.

Why do you have more than 200 domains though? Are you a domain name squatter?
