    Boycott this shit (Qatar).

Besides, really nice idea and a good deal. :-)

Won't this be free on SBS ?

One of the more "interesting" ozbargain deals, in my opinion.

The match is free on TV - but one can pay $10 to watch it in a cinema, with free popcorn…

To be fair to OP, there is some value in this deal, in my view. If you had a good group of fans in that cinema, plus a few hundred beers, you'd get a decent atmosphere.

edit - just noticed that it's a "small popcorn". Surely there can't be that much of a cost saving between a small, and a regular? lol…

Yeah people paying to drive/etc to watch the world cup in a cinema at 2am or 6am will likely be the diehard fans you'd exactly want to watch it with. Popcorn supplied to throw at the screen for bad ref calls.

      • I've been out of the game for a bit, but technically it's not a free popcorn. It's more than likely on the cinemas backend the ticket is free, and the popcorn is $10 as I don't believe they can legally charge people to watch something on free to air TV.

I could be wrong but thats the gist of how it worked when we did some state of origin screening 10+ years ago. First beer was included in ticket but really you were paying for the beer, not the ticket.

      You don't get it.

Is your TV at home as big as a theatre screen?
Will you have the same atmosphere in your house? $10 is a small price to pay for those things (plus popcorn)

  • Australia vs. France

We are going to win this one 2-0.

Didn’t know you were French jv

      Viva la France! 🇫🇷

  • It's a question that has nothing to do with this deal, are Australia broad castings(SBS and others) planning to relay every game on TV?(not paid service)

It's not that hard to google and read the first line of SBS world cup page.

      • Thanks, I have no idea World cup's popularity in Australia. In my country soccer(called football in Aus) is in top 3 sports but I think it's not in Australia so I asked.😁

        • No worries. Welcome to Aust.
World Cup broadcasting arrangement is different every time.
In 2018 it was shared between optus and SBS with only a handful of matches were free to air.
We are lucky this year. :)

      • Stream all 64 matches of the FIFA World Cup 2022™ live and free with SBS On Demand, and watch full replays, mini-matches and highlights.

        Hmmmm, so it's a maybe.

        • I believe all matches are available for full replays on demand.

          • @AsukaST: …… including Live one's, Highlights & Mini-Matches. Basically everything is avail on SBS as noted above and on their site.

Not supporting Australia team this round with its woke garbage.

Nice deal, shame about the overt slavery by the Qataris

You should probably mention there's also a $1.70 (17%…wow) booking fee so in reality $11.70 if only purchasing a single ticket.

Edit: The booking fee is per ticket, not per booking!

  • Selected Village Cinemas are also showing the Australia game, although at double the the price, so not a bargain but may be useful for someone who really wanted to watch it on the big screen.
