Price Arbitrage on Products Here Vs USA

Hi everyone,
I used to be pretty active here, but I moved to the US four years ago and have been looking for bargains elsewhere. I’m currently home for the first time and with the AUD getting absolutely hammered in the past couple of months I’m looking to see if there are any good deals on stuff here that would save me money vs buying it back in the USA. For reference I live in Washington state where the sales tax rate is ~ 9%

Two things I’ve found so far:

  • Socceroos jersey: $115 AUD ~ $75 USD -> cost is $95+t in the US
  • Pokémon scarlet/violet: $69 AUD ~ $46 USD -> ~ $60+t in the US

Anything else that comes to mind? It will need to fit in my luggage and I am leaving at the end of November so Black Friday deals here could be possible.

    Don't forget AUD prices include 10% GST while USD doesn't and gets tacked on at payment.

    Also you can claim that GST back at airport in some cases. Worth looking up the rules.

    • Good point on the potential refund - makes the difference even bigger!

      about as much as vegemite over there

  • Be a bit hard given the US with a population of 300m has better economies of scale (and lower minimum wage) than Australia. Best of luck for support Australia.

  • Would've thought in the days of the internet this sort of thing was dying out.
