Suunto 5 Peak GPS Sport Watch and Yoga Mat Bundle $199 in store @ Costco (Membership Required)

60

Good deal seems to be $349 to $399 at other local stores.

Available in Black, Ridge Sand, Dark Heather, Cave Green colours.

Suunto watches are considered GPS multi-sport watches. They are not Smart watches more like fitness trackers with GPS.
No OLED or touch screen and the OS animations are kind of on the slower side and you navigate using the buttons.

But they are popular for those who want long GPS battery life of 20h / 40h / 100h depending on accuracy setting.
The watch has an energy efficient design such as the power efficient display type.
Phone notifications can be turned on but I think just a short scrollable preview.

Also found just the Suunto 5 Peak watch by itself for $249 at Officeworks.
No Yoga Mat included and $50 extra though. Don't think Officeworks pricematches Costco due to membership costs.

  • They do price match Costco. But Officeworks won’t price match the bundle deal as it’s not an “identical item”

  • I bought one from jbhifi for $149 in a previous sale. Best Buy. I have used plenty of bands and amazfit bip. I also own mobvoi through the hiit challenge deal. But this watch is my favourite. Battery lasts a week with 24 hour heart rate monitoring. I run, ride, yoga, weight train all during the week and it records everything with no issues.

    • I could not find that deal. I think this is the only deal for the Suunto 5 Peak deal on ozbargain.

Are you sure you are not talking about the Suunto 5 GPS watch? I can find a $149 JB hifi deal for that one. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/648367

And I just looked up the specs for both on the Suunto website. Weirdly the Suunto 5 Peak costs more and is one model up, but is worse in some specs.
e.g. Water resistance is only down to 30m on 5 Peak, while it's down to 50m on the 5. Battery life in "Time" mode is also slightly better on the 5 which lasts 12 days vs the 5 Peak's 10 days. 24/7 tracking is equal though at 7 days. They also have the exact same size and type of display. The only two areas 5 Peak seems to be better is weight at 39grams vs 66 grams for the 5. The 5 Peak also has the 100 hours GPS mode that the 5 doesn't. The other 2 modes are the same though at 20 hours/40 hours.

Also the 5's design looks more rugged. It looks like it can take more bangs than the 5 Peak.

      • Here's the comparison on Suunto's site. I think newer (released this year) and notably lighter would be the reason why 5 Peak is more expensive. It's something that you are going to wear on your wrist 24/7 so being lighter is definitely a big plus.

        • Yeah thanks I did have a quick look at that compare page as well.
Newer makes sense. Also yeah I get why lighter is important for those long hikes and runs you definitely must feel it less over long periods the less the watch weighs.
One more difference I noticed was the 5 Peak mentions 2 simultaneous satellite systems and 12 Max connected satellites, while the 5's spec sheet in that area is just blank lol.
Not sure exactly what it means but I imagine the 5 Peak's GPS is much more accurate in difficult built up areas in the city or hiking in a forest surrounded by trees.
Also one more thing I found, the 5 Peak can track heart rate while swimming on the watch while the 5 doesn't unless you pair a separate heart rate chest strap.

      • My bad. It was Sport variant. It was a steal for that price.
